cats cats cats

If you live in the state of Kentucky right now there's probably one thing your wondering.. Will the cats bring home the NCAA championship.

If you don't you probably either A) don't know what I'm talking about or B) wish all of us members of the #BBN (that's big blue nation for those that don't know) would shut up talking about it.

My mom is probably the cats number 2 fan.
My father in law is probably number 1.
I'd say I'm somewhere in between.

So its a no brainer if I'm offered up the chance to go watch the SEC tourney I'm going to say yes.

The hubby and I ventured down to Nashville and watched the Cats bring home the SEC tournament championship.

We caught up with old and new friends.

Dined on some fine cuisine.

Killed time walking the streets and watching the boring games.

And even got dressed up for a few nights out and karaoke.

The kids were in good hands at Camp Rosie and at Granny and Papaw's house and before we left we went to Build A Bear for the babes to get some Willie Cauley Stein bears.

Let's Go Cats!!!

The end of the season

Saturday marked the last game of the football season for the wildcats..PTL.

The hubby and I have been loyal and devout fans- cheering on the cats in the rain and God forbid-even snow, through loss after loss...after loss. This was the first time in ten years we did not go to one single game, but we tailgated at home and dressed the babes in their Saturday blue.

We watched some games at granny and papaw's.

We snuggled at home.

We smiled when there was nothing to smile about.

Someday Commonwealth, I'll be back in my seats, hopefully cheering on the cats with my two little sidekicks and one big sidekick.  Until then I'll just be soaking up these precious moments...and hoping next season is better :)

So, how did your team do?

Weekend and Pinterest Fail

I kind of miss weekend recaps, and though I know I'm the only one, I like documenting what's going on in life at a particular moment so here goes-

We usually venture to my inlaws home a few weekends a month and I was happy to visit them and watch the game on Saturday.  The kids were just on their best behavior and they love being spoiled my granny, papaw, and auntie Kristi.

Its so fun to dress a boy during football season!

After the game we all watched Cinderella together and Carsyn was so smitten with her.  She's still singing Bippity Boppity Boo to her best ability.  Go get your copy before it goes back in the vault!

Sunday Carsyn and I headed out to church without the little guy.  We were late as usual but I wanted to get a picture of her in her fall dress so we had a little photo shoot on the front porch. I am just loving all of the fall fashion for little girls.

Carsyn sat through the whole church service with me and colored!! I was AMAZED.  The Lord was definitely working some magic that morning...or else Carsyn's special friend Susan and her magic markers were ;)

**Note-I did try a pinterest project today, but wasn't so thrilled with the result.  Have y'all tried this??

Here's mine-

Mine looked good, but the consistency was not right. I noticed in the pin the color is definitely creamier so perhaps I'll add more coconut milk the next time.

Just another weekend...

It was a pretty boring weekend here besides the fact Carsyn spent her first night away from momma Friday night. I expected it to be epic, but it wasn't. I got a spray tan (I turn into a versa addict this time of year) and watched the cats play Friday night. I had a brunch at 10 the next morning so I was rushed getting out the door. I think being occupied helped keep my mind off the fact she was gone, but the house was eerily quiet. I woke up at 4 (to pee of course) and could not go back to sleep because I kept wondering what she was doing.

Brunch OOTD

I think March is the hardest month to dress. Its been fairly warm recently, but not warm enough to go full on sundress. This is a JCrew favorite from last summer. I paired it with my featherweight cashmere cardi and choos. I guess it worked? And yes, the bump is in full effect :)

Getting a picture of an 18 month old with an iphone is impossible, right? I tried to get a pig picture but she would not let go of my keys. I tried to get a picture of her watching the cats and she wouldn't cooperate. Sigh.

I started the Beth Moore James Bible study at church. I'd like to say its rocking my world, but honestly I'm my worst critic. I need to do better. I do love the fact that its forcing me to read my Bible every day.

I also did a menu plan this week for the first time..ummm....in a year? I used to cook at least 5 nights a week. Gourmet meals? No, but it was so much better than icky fast food. I'm attempting to cook 3-4 nights a week now with the hubby's help. If I don't do the grocery on Sunday that means I have to shop with baby girl. That's no fun y'all. She's fine unless the buggy gets too full and then she starts throwing stuff out. I know it sounds funny, but trust me, its not. Well, actually it is a little.

I also got a little obsessed with the April Southern Living strawberry spread.

I had the cats on my little tv in the kitchen and whipped up a few goodies. I love moments like this!

How was your weekend?

Carsyn's UK Tailgate Party- Part I

(Finally...I got all the pictures together from Carsyn's party. Prepare for picture overload-sorry!)

I think I knew when Carsyn was born amidst football season we'd for sure be having some tailgate/UK themed parties.

I contacted Ashley of AB Designs to design Carsyn's custom invitation and she did not disappoint. I love her work so much and she's such a sweetie to work with.

My SIL came up with the idea to add painted pumpkins and pots to the decor and we gathered at my MIL & FIL's on weekends and painted.

We displayed Carsyn's monthly pig pictures on the fireplace and decorated the mantle with pots, pumpkins, and framed photos.

My MIL and FIL were so gracious to host Carsyn's party at their home-its a fantastic place to entertain. They had plenty of room for bouncy houses, guests and food.

Since the majority of the guests were kids we had face painting and tattoos in addition to the obstacle course and velcro wall. My MIL also has a neat popcorn machine we set up and most of the kids ended up going home with a small bucket- I'm sure their parents loved that!

The food tables were divided up into main courses, appetizers, drinks, and desserts.
