Hank is Four!

My sweet momma's boy is four!

I don't know where to start Hank Mitchell.

You are an equal combination of sweet and stubborn.

You love to give hugs and kisses, color, and be read to.  You love hot wheels, trucks, any type of ball, and getting dirty.

You have a kind heart and gentle spirit.  You love your sister and had rather spend time with her than anyone else.  You are awfully sad when she ignores you or doesn't want to play your type of games.

You love chocolate of any form-milk, cake, cookies, muffins, doesn't matter.

Your second major food love is bacon.

Which is probably why you are such a healthy boy! You are 43 inches tall and weigh 42 lbs.

You make everyone around you laugh and smile.  You are so funny and so smart and so loving.

Mommy loves you sweet baby boy!

Mothers Day

For memories sake I wanted to share a few Mother's Day pics with y'all.

Mother's Day is always something I look forward to.

Usually I go out to dinner with my mom and sister.

And go to church with my bestie and her girls.

I think this will be one of my favorite pics of all time. So much Lilly with Hanky in the middle!

This year Carsyn took me to the ballet for an extra treat.

Hank always has kisses for momma.

Both of the babes had special Mother's Day programs at their school.

The made presents, filled out cute questionnaires and performed songs for us.

Thoughts and Happenings

Hey hey friends! I keep telling myself I'll get back to writing more regularly, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.

Truth is life is just busy.  Beautifully busy, but busy nonetheless.  The babes are finishing up their first year of preschool and gosh I wish time would slow down.

I have been trying to take a picture of them on their favorite stump to play on at school to have for memories sake.

Speaking of memories sake, the kids got to see the Lilly jeep at the Peppermint Palm recently and Carsyn became obsessed.  I think girlfriend thinks Santa is going to bring her one this year.

My husband walked by my closet one day and said "Jen, you've got too much Lilly...how basic can you be?"  But when you find something you love you stick with it right?  And can we all agree the prints and style keep getting better and better? I mean how fun is this print?

And the cute little jumpsuits they make for girls?

And this dress is my favorite EVER. Its called the Alanna and sold out online but word is Lilly is doing another in June...The countdown is ON.

Have you tried their luxletic line?

I LOVE the skirts.  When I ran long distances I used to only wear skirts #becausethighchaffingaintnobodysfriend but somewhere along the way I sort of traded them in for capris.  I've gotten two of these this season and wear them a lot.  They are short but they have shorts underneath so no worries.

I snapped this pic to remind myself the Whole Foods sunshine smoothie is my favorite.  I thought I'd change into a breakfast eater once I started getting up earlier to get the babes to school but no such luck.  On days they both go I like to go for a run as soon as I get home, but don't like to run on an entirely empty stomach.  I usually drink one of these in the car and its a perfect balance of not too much sitting on my stomach and not running with a growling belly.

I'm slowly getting back into my running groove.  And did my first 3 miles under 30 minutes since the broke foot.  I attribute that to Sturgill's new album which is all sorts of amazing.  If you live local and saw him last night please don't rub it in.

After breaking my foot and getting cleared to work out again in Spring I started doing Barre.  I had only been a few times last fall, but fell in love.  Well, its sort of a love/hate relationship.

I think its the hardest workout I've ever done, but its also the most rewarding.  People always asked me why I liked running and it was just so many things...after that first mile when you hit your stride ...the energy boost you get afterward...the ability to clear your mind and just focus on putting one foot in front of the other.  With barre its the way you can actually feel your body getting stronger.  I really hope to continue doing it and I'll let you know what kind of results I see.

Any of y'all barre addicts?

Back to the babes......We went to see The Jungle Book and they loved it so much.  If you haven't been you need to go..its amazingly awesome.

I love how they are BFFs.

Speaking of BFFs, we've been having play dates with a friend and her 3 kids weekly.  We load up on the golf cart and head to her house and the kids have a blast.

I look forward to play dates as much as the kids I think because we actually get to indulge in a little adult conversation over a glass of wine.

Are they not adorable?

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Schools Cool

I cannot believe we are now amidst the babes' second semester of school!

I had planned to do a quick update after Christmas, but let's face it...There's not a lot of time to sit in front of computer that time of year.

Hank.

This was taken on school picture day and pretty much sums up his thoughts on school. #ikid

He goes a half day Tuesdays and Thursdays and its perfect.  Really perfect.  On days he doesn't go he's like...Yay! Stay home with mommy.  On other days he gets to see his girlfriend, Ms Debbie, whom I'm informed gets hugs for no reason.

All in all, Hank's doing great.  His favorite part of the day is playing trucks with Henry on the playground.  When asked who his friends are he says anyone who's "truck people."

Carsyn.

Carsyn was born for school.  Like, legit loved it from day one.  She's a little shy and its taken her until now to really warm up to all the kids and find her confidence.

Carsyn goes to school for a half day Monday through Thursday.  Its awesome.  Know what's even more awesome?  Free Fridays. #thanksauntmel  In all seriousness I was adamant about Carsyn not going on Friday.  She'll be going to school the next 20 years, she deserves a day off.

We usually venture to Camp Rosie and she has the whole way to tell me all about her day and who did what and what stories they read.  (Unless she falls asleep!)

We try to stop at the bottom of the staircase for pictures every morning.

Here she is telling me one more day till her friend, Kyria visits.

Fall was nice because after picking the babes up we'd play tag in front of the school or go home and play outside.

The school also had a great fall festival where I captured my all time favorite picture of Hank and his daddy.

We also took a class field trip to the pumpkin patch.

Funny thing is they always come home starving no matter how much lunch they eat.  The school enforces a healthy lunch policy so I usually let them have whatever for a snack.

We started this semester off with Color Week where the kids got to wear something red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.  The last day they wore rainbow t-shirts they made at school.

Its a bit of a struggle finding things to get excited about after the kids get home now that its winter.

We've been doing a lot of after school baking and crafting.

And shopping.

And goofing around in the car while Rosie shops.

And best of all...meeting friends for play dates!

So that's pretty much it for now....school's cool.  Stay tuned and we'll talk a little more about when school's not cool..
