Catching up.. Sorta

Summer is always crazy busy for me and this summer is no exception. I've been a horrible blogger, but you should feel grateful you have been spared because my disposition lately??.. Not so sunny. That being said we've had some great times this summer I really need to share- a furniture shopping road trip with the girls, the annual Charleston trip, (minus the hubby :() Carsyn enjoying the pool, and most recently little Baylor's 2nd birthday party. Most nights after Carsyn goes to sleep I'd much rather curl up on my front porch with a glass of wine and my nook than blog.

How about you? Are you having an enjoyable summer?

Side note!! Please hop over to Dana's adorable blog and check out her awesome giveaway! That gal's beautiful.. And generous to boot :)

The One About Poop

yep....poop. Still interested??

The week before last(you know the week after someone broke into my house destroying my whole world?? yes, I'm still having a pity party..)we were invited to a very important family dinner out of town. I was so busy that day dealing with insurance crap and trying to work I lost track of time and was late leaving. I hopped in my vehicle, picked up the hubby, and threw the dress I was planning on wearing in the vehicle. About 30 minutes before we were due to arrive at our destination I smelled poop and Carsyn started getting fussy. Usually she's a travel champ, but I figured her diaper was wet and we'd just tough it out as we were running late. I changed out of my sweats, tried to tame my hair and pulled myself somewhat together. When we arrived I got out to check on Carsyn and noticed her seat was soaked. I slapped myself on the forehead as I remembered mom telling me all she could find in the diaper bag was a swim diaper and I needed to change Carsyn as I picked up the hubby. Luckily there was not poop everywhere and she was wearing a 2 piece outfit. I took the pants off and maneuvered the dress so the wet part was tucked in the diaper. Unfortunately my dress was silk so I walked into the somewhat upscale (Malone's if your local) restaurant holding a screaming baby as far from me as possible. At this point the hubby has magically disappeared. I went straight to the stall with a changing table managing to hold a now kicking, crying, screaming baby in one hand while disinfecting the changing table with another. I laid Carsyn on the table and proceeded to remove the soaking diaper. At this point I had missed the memo that swim diapers ripped off at the sides so I pulled it off. Do you mommas know what happens when you yank off a diaper with poop in it?? Poop flies! I mean everywhere. I figured I'd tackle the poop later and get Carsyn clean. So with some baby wipes, wet ones, and a new diaper I have a happy kid. Unfortunately, I now have a poop filled bathroom stall to contend with. First I know some landed in my purse (you know, the one Louis the thief didn't steal?). After disposing of it I tackle the walls and floors of the stall. Everything looks spic and span but I still smell poop. I put everything in one of those little baggies and throw it in the trash, but the smell is still lingering. I figure I've looked everywhere and head to the exit when I think to check the bottom of my shoes. Oh yeah-they're covered. Thankfully by this time my SIL & MIL have received my SOS text message. I handed Carsyn to my MIL and went to work on my shoes with some wet ones. Luckily after that the evening went great. I'm just not sure I'll ever look at that restroom stall the same!

Carsyn is 10 months old!

I can't believe my baby girl is almost a year old. I can't believe you are bigger than mr pig!

Carsyn P, you are keeping momma busy! Crawl, crawl, crawl is all you want to do. Your little knees stay bruised.

You are into everything and are so curious. You want very little to do with toys- You'd much rather play with remotes, phones, shoes, and basically anything that could put your eye out.

You love momma's iPad case- your love for Lilly has started at a young age.

You are still momma's tiny little miss and not even 16 lbs. You'd much rather play than eat. Luckily your appetite has picked up a little. Your favorite veggie is squash.. Preferably butternut organic. Your favorite fruit is bananas. You are now eating almost a whole banana a day. Did I mention you finally have a tooth. Rosie found that little beauty poking through on the 15th. Hooray- bring on the ribeyes!

You are quite a talker and babble pretty much all day. You say ma ma, da da, dog, uh oh, and hi. You love to wave hi to everyone.

Carsyn, you have brought so much joy to our lives- I can't imagine life without you. Momma and Daddy love you to pieces!

Downhearted, Disenchanted, & Disillusioned

I will be a debby downer for today. I think I'm entitled. I received a phone call from the hubby while shopping with my family Friday afternoon. "Jen, we've been robbed." Shocked, I sat down as he went room by room telling me what was missing. I asked if Elvis was ok and he said yes. When I asked about my jewelry he told me it was all gone. ALL GONE. There were other things missing, but I just couldn't get over my entire jewelry box missing. I cried and cried and cried. Truthfully, I am still crying. Is is because those were items that can never be replaced? Yes. Is is because my hubby worked so many long hours to buy my engagement ring which no longer fit? Yes. But mostly its because I feel violated. A thug was in my home. A thug was in my baby's room. A thug has taken away my trust and my sense of security. I am a firm believer that God does not give us more than we can handle. My baby girl is safe, happy, and healthy and in the large scheme of things that is all that matters. But honestly, my sadness has just turned to bitter anger. I am PISSED! I am upset we live in a world that lets murderers walk free and criminals go unpunished. I am ashamed to live in a society with no morals. A society in which getting high is a number one priority.

Some words of wisdom for you ladies is please get your jewelry insured. It is likely not covered under your homeowners insurance in cases of theft. Also, lock up your Louis Vuitton- apparently dope heads are more educated than they used to be.

Enough whining for now, I'm just around the corner to the light of day :)

Happy Birthday Ben!

How neat would be it be to have a birthday on July 3rd?? Ben's birthday is always a festive occasion and his wife and family and friends do an excellent job of party planning. (Tammy- you need to start your own business!) I'm so lucky I got to celebrate with them all this year.

The birthday boy getting a little help from Hayden..

These group of ladies really define the true meaning of friendship..I was honored to be part of their little circle for the night. Don't you just love the "mom code" when you get around a group of women? I ate a hot meal, played a little corn hole and had cake..all free of juggling a baby at the same time! Thanks girls!

Carsyn and Ben checking eachother out..

Mommy time!
