A Peek Inside

My bathroom cabinet..

A few of you have asked about what hair products I use. Seriously. I swear. Not only am I incredibly flattered as I want to chop off my hair on a daily basis, I am happy to oblige. I have been using Aveda products ever since my salon became an Aveda salon. I have thick wavy hair and am pretty satisfied with the products I use. As far as shampoos and conditioners I like color conserve, smooth infusion, and damage remedy. After towel drying my hair I apply be curly curl enhancer for days I want to be curlier and smooth infusion glossing detangler on other days. On straight days I dry my hair with the good old fashioned round brush and use a large barrel curling iron (11/2" I think) to create curls. I use the curl down method which I linked to here. I finish with smoothing fluid. If it's raining or humid outside I use be curly and let my hair air dry to about 80%. I flip my head over and finish drying with my blow dryer and then curl using a small barrel (about 3/4") curling iron. I usually go with a messier look and curl random sections and let my natural curl show in the rest. I finish with the brilliant anti-humectant pomade. * this is a heavy product and a little goes a long way. I have pretty coarse hair and use it sometimes when my hair is extra frizzy on straighter days also. I'm not big on hairspray but do use Fekkai sheer hold on some occasions. My hairdryer is a chi and my curling irons are hot tools. Is this tmi?? I'm sorry! I always love reading all your tips so I just wanted to do a good job on my own.

Changing the subject entirely Carsyn put her on flip flops today in honor of the first day of Spring!

Please forgive the bare toes...we just can't find time for a pedi! Springtime wears us out...

A Peek Inside..

My bookshelf!! Well actually it's my nookshelf thanks to my sweet, sweet MIL. I have built-in bookshelves on my house wish list for 2011. Our books are stashed all over the house currently and I'd love to get them organized.

In keeping with things I love.. I love to read-books, magazines, anything I can get my hands on.

Let's start with magazines- I currently subscribe to House Beautiful, Food Network Magazine, Shape, Womens Health, Parenting, & US Weekly on the nook. I usually like to tear recipes and home ideas and put them in a folder, but the nook does have a nice bookmark feature. I look forward to vacation this year because instead of having a stack of reading goodies to lug everything will be on one little device. Otherwise I subscribe to Southern Living, In Style, Veranda, Coastal Living (my favs), Food & Wine, Cosmo, Redbook, & Marie Claire. I got a good deal on the latter and think it's probably time to nix them. I know that's way too many probably, but they make me happy :)

As far as books this year
Strange Bedpersons by Jennifer Cruise-currently reading- it's just ok
Vision in White by Nora Roberts -as suggested by my SIL-as always Nora Roberts does not disappoint

Usually I read fiction but I have 2 non fiction books on my wish list
Dirty Sexy Politics by Meghan McCain (I've been meaning to read this for awhile and keep forgetting about it)
Decision Points by George W Bush

I also have a couple of books on my wish list as suggested by others
Tick Tock by James Patterson
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

What's on your reading list? Any recommendations?

A Peek Inside....

I love reading blogs!! I love seeing what you're up to and what's on your mind- where you're going on your next vacation, what makes you smile, what you did last weekend, what you're watching on TV, what inspires you.

One of my favorite blogs is Kellys Korner and her SUYL series. In hopes that some of you will share a few "peaks" inside your world I figure I'll do the same. I hope to share with you a peak inside my life each week.

So, what better place to start than my fridge. In case you were wondering who does the grocery shopping in our house please take a gander at my freezer drawer...

all the credit for those delectable frozen finger foods goes to the hubby..except that bag of frozen biscuits in the corner- that's all me. Have you tried the mini version?? They're divine! Maybe its a Southern thing but we eat a lot of biscuits in this house. Recently I asked the hubby if we should cut them out in attempt to lose weight and he looked at me and said in his most serious voice "If its a world without biscuits, Jen I sure don't want to live in it." I think that's a great note to leave on :)
