A Hot One!

Wow! What a hot Memorial Weekend. I got a lot of work done this weekend thanks to my mom who worked her butt off at my house on Saturday. I don't know what I would do without her. We did cook some peas and grill some steaks for dinner in appreciation.

This was my first attempt at cooking peas and everyone swore they were delicious but once again nothing like my grandmas...

Shane and I were both looking forward to Sunday and relaxing. We went to the lake and got to spend some time with Shane's family. Everyone is so excited about the baby it was the topic of conversation, but I always love hearing what is going on in my in-laws lives too. My mother and father-in-law are embarking on an adventure as they are building a home (their home burnt down just before Christmas). I am beginning to detect their excitement as it is finally underway. It sounded like Kristi and Robby had a great trip to Turks and Caicos. My mouth was watering as they talked about the delicious food. Afterwards, I went to my mom and dad's to swim with my little cousins. They are so hyper I was thinking how am I ever going to be able to handle a little one?!? I was thankful to spend time with everyone, but today was nice to have some "me time" by the pool also.

I got through about half of that stack of magazines, but I spent a lot of time day dreaming because.....

We finally booked our vacation..
Charleston here we come...I am excited to get out of town and eat some great food!

Long Weekend

I love Memorial weekend-the official kickoff to summer! Usually we go to the lake for the whole weekend, but this year I have some work to do to get the pool ready. My plan is to work hard on Saturday and relax on Sunday and Monday-we'll see how that goes. I am excited to see my sister-in-law, Kristi(www.kentucky-girl.blogspot.com) and her husband who are returning from Turks and Caicos today.

I can't wait to hear all about their trip. She hates to fly as badly as I so I hope their flight went smoothly. I'm sure they got some rest and relaxation-and hopefully lots of pictures!

I just finished The Last Song, which Kristi got me for mother's day. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to any woman out there. It centers around teenage love, but also addresses other issues which one can relate to no matter their age. I can't wait to see the movie.

What's your Memorial weekend plans?

Life Without Starbucks

I am a self proclaimed "country girl." A perfect summer day for me is sleeping late, going to the lake, and returning home in time to grill by the pool and do some reading on the front porch before bedtime. Luckily I live in an atmosphere which is very conducive to this. Unfortunately, this means no nice restaurants, movie theatres, shopping malls, or STARBUCKS! While my craving for coffee has largely subsided, my craving for the iced green latte has tripled!! Upon the encouragement of my doctor I do splurge and have one if the opportunity presents itself.

Lately I have found a semi-replacement at the local Bob Evans. The strawberry blueberry smoothie is pretty delightful.

I was pretty upset that Nicole won on DWTS.....am I the only one??
Or maybe it was just the fact that I had just purchased my first maternity bathing suit on line and was in a bad mood. While shopping for some maternity clothes is not that bad I am just not looking forward to rocking the bathing suit. I did find one that was not so bad...

Too Much Reality

So I really enjoy lots of reality TV and have mentioned before Real Housewives is a favorite guilty pleasure. Probably a big mistake watching it tonight as we got to follow Teresa into the delivery room...YIKES! I can totally see me in the delivery room screaming I deserve diamonds for going through this and Shane trying to placate me with ice cream.

I think a Tiffany celebration ring would definitely make it all better :)

In all seriousness I find myself turning the channel when I see a lady in labor because I just don't want to witness it...

DWTS was a little disappointing to me tonight...the freestyles just did not impress me. Even the great Nicole was a let down in my opinion.

Wedding

What a beautiful weekend we had! Saturday Shane and I went to a friend's wedding. Candice was a gorgeous bride and the wedding was amazing. Unfortunately the batteries in my camera died and I just got to snap a couple of pics on the iphone. Congrats to the happy couple!

On another note the Brooks and Dunn show tonight has been surprisingly good. I even got up to show Shane I still remember to how tush push to boot scootin boogie ;)
I forgot I enjoy quite a lot of their songs and I'm happy I had the chance to see them in concert a couple of years ago. I loved Kenny Chesney's and Reba's performances!

The weekend ended on a great note because I finally got my banana split!

Random Things

Don't you just love coming home to something on your doorstep you totally forgot you ordered?!? My goodies from Ashley Brooke Designs arrived today and everything is so cute! I cannot wait to see the design she comes up with after my little one arrives.

Also, sadly I think I might have purchased my last dress before the dreaded maternity clothes are needed..I am hoping this dress will last me another month or two. Thanks goodness for J Crew!! Lots of their dresses and tops are loose fitting and I have been living in their sundresses on sunny days. Hopefully the rain will go away and I'll have a chance to wear this one. Anyone who knows where I can get cute maternity clothes please let me know!!

I have to give props to Miley Cyrus! (I hope I get this story right). Miley funds a program at a local school called Blessings in a Backpack which provides food for students to take home on weekends. Today she showed up at the school to bag the lunches herself! I'm sure the kids were so happy to see her.

I know I'm probably the only one who watches Real Housewives New York, but the last episodes of the ladies on vacation has got me super envious! The place they stayed was so beautiful I can't believe they couldn't find a way to get along.

Blackberry Cravings

So..believe it or not besides pickles and ice cream I am craving fruit!! I love watermelon and lately I have been craving blackberries-better yet blackberry cobbler (Shane's favorite)!! In keeping with the theme I found a recipe at Southern Living for spicy pork tenderloin with blackberry sauce. I served it with a spinach salad with fresh strawberries (another favorite).

It was yummy and I highly recommend it!

The blackberry cobbler was pretty good, but I just cannot beat my grandma...I think she has a secret she's not sharing!

I think this week I am finally feeling baby girl move around some :)
Its weird, but exciting!

I'm thinking I should celebrate Evan's advancement on DWTS with another piece of cobbler.....

Chick Flicks and Rotten Bananas

I just love weekends and this weekend I set out to tackle my mile long to do list and enjoy a few of my favorite chick flicks I've been wanting to watch for forever. Saturday was absolutely beautiful and I had accomplished taking Elvis to the vet and picking up some flowers before noon. My plan was to relax by the pool and do some cleaning and set out my flowers. Unfortunately I just don't have the energy I used to and the chores I had laid out completely exhausted me. I woke up this morning and couldn't raise my arms! After laying around all day I decided to venture out for a banana split, only to hear the girl behind the counter ask me if I still wanted one if the bananas were rotten. Hmmmm...think I'll pass. I'm sure I'll be dreaming of banana splits all night! I did get to watch a couple of my favorite movies this weekend and was pleasantly surprised Shane enjoyed them also.

I love this movie and the music! I was ready to go to Myrtle Beach after we watched it...or at least learn to shag.

What can I say about Cary Grant?? and I am still singing presto, presto, do your very best-o...

Baby Bump

I figured I would post a pic of the long awaited baby bump...YAY (I guess)!!

This is week 21 and I'm feeling pretty good..finally. My head is spinning with girl names and nursery ideas. So far the name has completely thrown me for a loop! As far as the nursery I'm just thinking PINK! I am looking forward to the weekend and tackling a few things on my ever growing to do list.

Its A Girl!!

What a relief to find out what our little one is going to be!! It was such a great day! Most of our family was able to make it to the ultrasound and gather anxiously around the monitor- It seemed like it took FOREVER for the ITS A GIRL news to be announced. There were a few tears (of joy) and a lot of laughter.

After the appointment we went to the local bookstore to buy a book for the little one. Shane had the idea to buy Dr Seuss Oh, the Places You'll Go...Its a favorite of ours and we both LOVE Dr Seuss. We then went to pick up a few more goodies...

Of course I had to stop by one of my favorite stores to see of they had anything for mommy.....

I know its not keeping with the pink theme, but I love Kentucky blue...Worlds Apart (www.worldsapartonline.com) in Lexington has the prettiest clothes!

Then we went to my favorite sushi restaurant where I enjoyed.......A nice big salad..(sigh)

Shane decided to cut grass when we got home so that gave me the perfect opportunity to whip up some pink brownies for him to take to work tomorrow.

Hoping for some rest tonight!

Mother's Day

pWhat a great Mother's Day weekend I've had!! Saturday I spent the day with my sister and mom (two of the world's best mommies). I even got to chase my nephew around for a bit.

We ate at my mom's favorite italian restaurant where I enjoyed a little too much dessert and learned perhaps peanut butter and chocolate are not a pregnant gal's best friend.

Today my sister-in-law prepared lunch, which eventually turned into dinner also, as everyone went for second and thirds, at her home.

Thanks to my sister and sister-in-law for the thoughtful gifts-Love You!

This will likely be a restless night for me as tomorrow is a big day!

Springtime

We have been enjoying beautiful weather in Kentucky lately and today was no exception. I do not think I counted a single cloud in the sky. Unfortunately it was a crazy hectic day for me and the weather did little to offset my mood. I went for a run at the lake tonight and regained my sanity. It really is lovely there and never fails to make me feel glad to live in the country.

Some still nag me for running but as I told my doc you took away my coffee, red wine, and sushi, please don't take my running! While its true my "running" has turned into a slow jog and that will likely turn into a waddle, I am still enjoying it.

I am looking forward to a beautiful Mother's Day weekend and getting to spend some time with my family.

20 more weeks to go and 4 more days til we find out whether we have a little boy or girl!! :)

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

Under usual circumstances I would prefer to spend tonight at my local mexican cantina, but my appetite is not quite back to normal and Shane had a hankering for homemade tacos so we stayed in. I did, however, stop by to pick up some homemade chips and salsa, beans, and rice cause lets face it- they do it better than I can.

Elvis loves Cinco de Mayo because it, along with his birthday, are the only 2 occasions he gets to eat his favorite mexican cuisine!

In fact, I think he is still in the kitchen licking the floor..

Hope everyone had a great day!

New Heading

Yippee! I am so excited to see the design atop my blog the beautifully creative Ashley Brooke came up with for me. I am so in love with the "Ashely Brooke pregnant me"- the real pregnant me-not so cute! Thanks so much to Ashley Brooke Designs.

As you may note from my schoolgirl excitement over a design not much is going on in life right now. Aside from being tickled my head is not lolling in a toilet 24/7 anymore, TV is my sole entertainment. I am loving Dancing With The Stars this season and luckily its one thing Shane and I have in common. What we do not share is a love for Erin Andrews. He just does not understand where my disdain stems from. He said "She reminds me so much of you- She's a tall blonde who's goofy yet elegant and attractive" Hmmmm...Comparison please...

Oh yes..I see it now! ;)

At this point I am rooting for Evan and Anna, but I would not be upset if Ochocinco won either. Nicole and Derek are just a little too full of themselves.

I also love watching the Real Housewives series on Bravo. New York has really heated up this year and I find myself to be on Team Bethenney. I am also loving Alex's newfound confidence!

Unfortunately I missed the Jersey premiere last night but thanks to my friend the DVR I'll be catching up soon. (I shudder to remember life without it).

Let's see, what's on the agenda for tonight..oh yeah..The Hills. Sadly I just watch it just to view the train wreck that is now Heidi...

ps..6 days til we find out whether Baby Watts is a boy or girl!
