About Dads

Growing up I often heard the tale that girls end up marrying someone like their father.

I laugh at the truth in that statement from time to time.

Both my dad and my husband have the strongest work ethic of anyone I know.  They are both extremely driven individuals and the 2 smartest men I know.  I still blame my dad working 12 hour days for the reason I sit up late at night.

Summers were awesome because often it was light enough outside when he got home to shoot a few hoops or swim in the pool.  He always got me with his double or nothing game.  Basically he would start shooting 3 pointers by saying $5 bucks if I miss this.  He would miss 10 in a row and I'd be calculating how many NKOTB posters I could buy before he killed my dream with a simple swoosh of the net.  Now I realize he knew what he was doing the whole time and missing on purpose.

If it was a swim night sometimes he would swim with me and others he would challenge me to see how fast I could swim laps.

And, as I've probably said before, if we were indoors lots of night Rosie would fix us bacon, eggs, and toast and we'd catch up on Bond movies.  Sorry Pops, Roger Moore will always be my favorite.  But we can both agree we like our eggs sunny side up.

Just like my favorite moment of the day was when Pops rolled in the driveway my kid's favorite moment is when their dad walks through the door.  The minute they hear the door open its "Daddy's home!", "Daddy's home!" Usually there's a quick game of tag followed by hugs and kisses.

I love watching that part of the day.  Some days he beats us home, some days he surprises us and meets us at the pool, but no matter where, their little expressions when they see him never get old.

Especially when they are surprised at ballet performances ;)

And  I might have forgotten to mention who they prefer post bath snuggles from.

So, happy Father's Day Daddy and Pops.  Carsyn, Hank, and I are blessed beyond measure to have you.

Weekend Recap

Happy Tuesday lovelies!

We are amidst ballet camp this week so while I'm getting a lot done since this is my first week of no traveling to the EKY in forever I'm also pooped.

Friday night Shane and I were lucky enough to attend KET's annual fundraiser at Donamire Farm here in Lexington.

I wore this.

And stole this pic from kentucky.com of me and the hubs.

Saturday and Sunday we went to the pool and hung out.

And just because I love this picture of Carsyn so much...

Hope y'all had a great weekend!!

Five

Hey friends…..Figured I'd share a little five on Friday with you..

ONE

I started this book on Saturday night and finished it on Monday night I think.

I read somewhere that Reese Witherspoon was making it into a movie and gosh I hope so.

Are y'all reading?  This is one I'd love to chat about.  Who do you think will play Mr. Larson in the movie?  What do you think about Ani?  Is she completely innocent?  Are you terrified of sending your babes to school like I am?

TWO

I am wearing this maxi dress in the above pic and have a feeling it will be on repeat all summer.  God bless the maxi dress…especially this one with a built in bra and cute little tie in the back.

THREE

It was Vacation Bible School at the church we used to attend this week and I took Carsyn for a few nights.  I tried to talk Hank into it but he was all "I gotta stay here and take care of my dogs and garden."

She had so much fun!

FOUR

When my bestie told me this makeup palette was infused with real chocolate I drove to the nearest Sephora to pick it up.

Dare I say I like it better than the Naked.  Did I mention it smells like CHOCOLATE??

FIVE

The kids still love eating at Palmers and feeding the ducks. We went last weekend and Rosie captured this pic.  Carsyn's excitement pretty much echoes the way I feel about summer finally being here.

Cheers to the weekend friends!! I'm linking up with April for Five on Friday as always.

Memorial Day (and weekend)

I cannot believe Memorial weekend was last weekend. I have a feeling this summer is going to fly by and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

We had a busy Memorial weekend doing the usual- sunning, grilling, pooling and spending lots of time with family.

Friday night Carsyn and Maddox went to a little neighborhood party and watched a movie.

She was so excited!

Saturday we went shopping in Louisville with Rosie.

Sunday and Monday we had pool days.

Monday afternoon we went to my sister's for dinner and let the kiddos play outside.
