Carsyn Says Bachelor Edition

I will preface this by saying I know it may be completely out of line to allow my 4 year old daughter watch the Bachelor.  But here's how it happened.

Every night I tell the kids its night night time and that they need to go to bed.  They're reluctant but they both go upstairs to their rooms.  Hank usually picks out what stuffed animal he wants to sleep with and plays in his room for a few minutes.  After I shut his door Carsyn sneaks back downstairs to watch TV.  I usually let her pick one thing to watch.  

We started this tradition and then this happened.

Me: Ok, time for bed.

Carsyn:  Well, what are you going to do?

Me: Well, Carsyn I could lie and and say go to bed, but the truth is I have to take a bath, fold laundry, do dishes, and maybe watch a TV show.

Carsyn: Oh. Like a grown up comedy.

Me: Yes.

Carsyn: Well why don't I just lay here on the sofa and sleep and snuggle with you so you don't get lonely.

Me: Ok. I am a sucker

So I turned on the Bachelor and thought she'd be out in 5 minutes.

Unfortunately girlfriend was hooked.  And honestly she had some great opinions to share.

Here we go.

The opening scenes come on and show hot air balloons

Ohhhh….this is going to be great!

Fast forward and Chris is on a date with a girl who's name I can never remember.  Apparently they are seeing some sort of love Dr.?

They said they are in Arizona.  But I'm pretty sure they're in China.  Cause that lady looks like a Chinese Emperor.

I like her.

Her hair is pretty. Can you fix me a braid like that tomorrow?

At this point I"ll add they look super uncomfortable.  I'm uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure CPS would be on their way over if they knew we were watching this so I hit fast forward.

Looks like the girls are going white water rafting.

Someone is surely going in the water.

I think they'll be fine.  

I told you so.

I decide she predicts this show better than me and ask who she thinks will win.

If I was on that show he'd pick me.

Oh mercy

I'm definitely perfect.

Double mercy.

And I think Hank should be the Bachelor someday.

Ok.

And mom, when I"m a wedding girl someday I don't want to wear a white dress.  You can wear a white dress.  I'll wear red.

Classy

And marry Maddox.

Maddox is your cousin.

I know. I love him.

Well. Maybe that's not the best idea.

Ok.  I"ll marry Alex.  Will Ella give him to me?

That's another cousin too, but that's sweet and completely innocent so we'll talk about that some other time.

Which girl do you think is the prettiest?

The one with the pretty lipstick.  She stays mad all the time.

Clearly that's Ashley.

They show Ashley.  And for the life of me I cannot get a decent picture of her.

Is she the one Carsyn?

She's the beautifulist but looks better with red lipstick.

I like Whitney, Carsyn.  That's her….do you like her?

Nope.  She's bossy.

Side note.  I googled Whitney for Rosie to show her which one she was and this popped up.

Got to be for the KY girl.

Oh ok.  Well what about Chris?  Is he cute?

He looks like Uncle Robby.  And Daddy too.

So he's cute?

Sure.

Britt doesn't shower.  Thats so odd.  Do you think she smells bad?

Nope.  All girls smell like roses.

Britt is going on the hot air balloon!

I really want to go on one of those.

Do you think all of us can fit in the basket?

I don't want to go if our family can't fit.

Lets take one to Hawaii.  

It will be so nice.

They just blow hot air all over you so you don't get cold.

Can I take some playdoh with me?

Interest is fading….

But we found some playdoh!

Chris is wearing a leather jacket.  Do you like it?

Oh yes.  Daddy wears leather jackets and they look good.

I tell Carsyn to look Whitney gets a rose.

My favorite is going to get her sad face on. (Laughing)

Clearly a 4 year old shows no loyalties.

Side note.  I'm glad Ashely hasn't dropped the v world yet because I'm not prepared to explain that.  Pretty sure we're walking on rocky ground just watching this.

And its so odd Britt sleeps in makeup.  But Carsyn says her red lipstick really makes her eyes pop.

Than promptly falls asleep and thank goodness.

Because these girls appear all sorts of crazy.  

How do you feel about Kelsey?  Does she seem disingenuine?

I think Britt maybe doesn't shower.  I mean her makeup is always on.

I think Chris is in over his head.

And I think Ashley is a short timer. 

My money is on Britt.  Maybe Whitney?

What's On?

It seems like everyone gets excited for fall TV these days, huh? Its not really the highlight of the season for me, but I do like to occasionally veg out in front of the tube. I think I'm probably the most random TV watcher ever. Here's a few highlights:

New Shows

Pan Am- not impressed and I will probably not be back.

Revenge- my favorite so far-I can't wait to see what happens next.

Up All Night-I love the actors in this one, but find the storyline a little boring.

The Playboy Club-not surprised its cancelled already.

Old favorites

I LOVE Body of Proof. I think I'm just a Dana Delaney fan.

I plan to watch the final season of Desperate Housewives, but honestly I think the show ran its course a while back.

I'm very behind on Gossip Girl, but I like to watch just for the fashion.

DWTS is always fun to watch but I really don't have a favorite yet...perhaps JR Martinez.

RHOBH & RHONJ- I LOVE my real housewives-reality TV at its finest!! Also, hubby since I know you're a closet reader of the blog can you build me Lisa Vanderpump's closet???



Or maybe have my wedding gown mounted like Adrienne Maloof?

Catching Up

I have Mad Men seasons piled up to watch. Is it worth it? Also, so many friends have told me to watch True Blood, but honestly, it CREEPS me out. And, lastly, I am getting ready to start FNL..I hope its as good as everyone says!!

So, what am I missing out on?

Sunday

I don't know about you but Sunday is probably my favorite day of the week. Here lately it has involved church, pool time, and an afternoon nap. I am so happy to finally find a church I am growing to love. Everyone is just so sweet and welcoming and I could listen to the pastor for hours. Also, I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy getting dressed up.

After church the hubby was sweet enough to watch baby girl and let me get some quiet pool time and grocery shopping done. I cooked dinner for the first time in FOREVER.



We had salmon patties and peas from the garden and its probably one of our favorite meals. I really enjoy cooking and would love to cook a big Sunday dinner every week, but lots of times I'm just too lazy.

I usually wrap up the weekend with a glass of California Chardonnay and the RHOOC..



The only thing that would make the day better would be an extra hour or two in the day to squeeze in more family time. What's your favorite day of the week?

What's on my mind

* Reality TV is becoming all I watch. I'm addicted to The Voice. And of course all of the Real Housewives series. OC has been sort of a snooze fest this season but Jersey never fails to entertain. Does anyone else think something is a little off with Melissa? I'm excited for America's Got Talent!

* Arnold Schwarzenegger is so lame. I seriously wanted to throw up after catching a glimpse of him in Kindergarten Cop recently. Ok, I was watching... It was kind of a cute movie.

* Memorial Weekend used to mean carefree time at the lake. This year it involved lots of pressure washing, some naps, baby's first dip in the pool, and purchasing an SUV big enough to haul a pack n play, exersaucer, and basically the whole house in.

* My email and facebook accounts were both recently hacked. I don't know what upsets me more, the fact they were hacked, or the fact msn nor facebook has made any attempt to resolve the issue.

* For those who were wondering-I did not recently take a surprise trip to the United Kingdom and get mugged leaving me to only communicate via facebook and email-see above. And if you were concerned about me, thanks.

* Why do I think I'll magically be tanned and skinny by the time vacation rolls around every year? I am a fair skinned 31 year old woman. It is what it is.

* Carsyn is still toothless.. Dear tooth fairy Gods, I'm ready for the tooth. Especially if this means an end to my drooling, moaning, sporadic napping, skinny, not so hungry child.

* My Keurig is officially broke. Ironically my Cuisinart is out of commission also.. Momma not happy. If anyone knows how to de-mold the Cuisinart or make the Keurig stop flashing Not Ready please let me know!!

* I do 1800 loads of laundry a day.. Am I the only one?

* I'm way too excited about the custom Starbucks cold cup I just purchased. Is it crazy to be happy about writing your name and beverage of choice in pink?

A little obsession of mine

For some reason I always get a little giddy when I see a celebrity (or pseudo celebrity as the case may be) wearing an outfit I'm familiar with. I'll usually be on the phone with my mom or sister and blurt "Did you see what Sharon had on today on Y & R? That was totally that Anthropologie caplet!) My mom and sister are quite better at it than I and given the fact that I live in the sticks its excusable that my fashion expertise is often lacking. After watching the Bachelor Monday night I became a little obsessed with the beautiful tweed skirt Michelle was wearing. After much googling I stumbled upon this site. Love this girl!! I will definitely be checking her out more often. How could I have overlooked this JCrew lovely?



I quickly went to their site and found the skirt ON SALE! I added it to my cart and figured I'd purchase it the next morning... Only to be disappointed that it had magically disappeared (I hate when you do this to me JCrew). Luckily, JCrew personal shopper extraordinaire, Cindy, scored it for me and it should arrive shortly. Ah Michelle, your personality was a little sketchy, but your wardrobe was always on point.

Growing Up, Guilty Pleasures, & Giveaway!

I get so excited when I come up with a blog title that includes a Springsteen song!

I snapped this pic the other morning and caught a little tear rolling down my face because Carsyn is really outgrowing all of her little prissy nightgowns. She is just growing up way too fast and time is flying by here at the Watts household. I cannot believe she will be 6 months old in just a few weeks.

I had such a lazy day today but caught myself scrambling this evening getting laundry done and getting a little run in so I could indulge in a few guilty pleasures this Sunday evening; catching up with my favorite bloggers and RHOOC.

A favorite blog of mine is ShastaAnne. She is a completely adorable, uber fashionable mom to 3! She has such a fantastic outlook on life I hope you add her to your favorites. Anyhoo-she is having a Chanel giveaway so you should check it out!

Also, a friend of mine (actually more a friend of my SIL) started a blog and I'm so excited! Vandi is such a beautiful, sweet girl I hope you check out her blog Vandi's Voice also.

The Real Housewives series on Bravo is my favorite series on tv and I'm so excited the OC season is starting. I love watching these blonde ladies and got a little thrill tonight when I caught a glimpse of Will Kirby from Big Brother a few seconds ago. I def watch too much reality TV but I think we all deserve a few guilty pleasures!

My Reality TV Fix

So y'all know I'm kinda addicted to The Bachelor, right? Did you watch last night's episode? I just have to believe that the embalmer freaked Mr Brad out a little more than being Ricky's step daddy! I follow NASCAR ok... I've heard all of the Emily rumors and I'm not buying. She is just so gorgeous and so sweet. If she doesn't find love with Brad I hope she's the next Bachelorette. That being said I think he will end up with Ashley. They seem to have chemistry (and to quote the situation I ain't talking about the class) and something semi-real. I can't wait til next week's episode.



Did you catch the premiere of Real Housewives of Miami?? Big disappointment! I love the Real Housewives series on Bravo. I always look forward to my favorites, OC and Atlanta. I even appreciate all that New York, Beverly Hills, and DC have to offer. The Jersey Girls are spectacular! I cannot seem to find anything to keep me interested in Miami. Am I missing something?



I have to admit I was a Jersey Shore virgin until my SIL introduced me to it. As of now the hubby and I DVR the episodes and watch them over pizza and red wine (or beer) on Friday nights. They make me feel young again. You know, back in the day when all you worried about was being tan and what club you were hitting up that night?? Love the cast, love the show!

American Idol- oh how you've made up for the disappointment I've felt in seasons past! Steven Tyler and JLo do not disappoint. Do you think a 15 yr old will win this season too?

Tom Brady you ruined my weekend

yep, that pretty much says it all...its awful to let a stupid NFL game put me in such a funk. So now I'm off to catch up on the Bachelor so I can blog about it like the rest of the world.

Snow Day

(oh lonely adirondack chair I promise soon I'll be sitting in you listening to some Bob Marley and enjoying a margarita)

It seems everyone in the country is seeing their fair share of snow days this winter and KY has been no exception. Every 3-4 days we receive about 3-4 inches of snow. I actually, secretly love it, but hate that the hubby has to drive to work in it :( I have been suffering from a horrible sinus infection which has lasted for about 3 weeks since I have been scared to take any antibiotics. I finally started some and might possibly be feeling better. Since I have had no sense of taste or smell for about a week I told the hubby to watch out cause as soon as I get my appetite back this girl is ordering a large plain cheese pizza from Papa Johns and eating the whole thing by herself! Seriously, if I eat one more can of soup I'm gonna throw up. Since there is a major lack of things to blog about I figured I would at least share what's currently on my mind:

* I totally live for UK athletics but our basketball team just has not won me over this season..I miss you John Wall and Demarcus Cousins

* I wish I would have started watching the Bachelor this season..it seems that's all people are talking about and I hate being out of the loop

* Being stuck at home for days gets me in the mood to remodel..right now I really want to turn our attic into a playroom for Carsyn..she totally needs it considering she's almost 4 months old, right?

* I am so excited for the NFL playoffs...Tom Brady is back and I think its the year for a Patriots superbowl victory!

* I have not seen a good movie in FOREVER..any suggestions?

* Of the few things I miss BB (before baby) putting on makeup or just getting ready to go somewhere is at the top..the old me would have a little glass of wine and enjoy the whole process. The new routine..put baby in bouncy seat, start process,eyeliner on one eye, rock the baby, other eye, rock the baby, mascara, pick baby up and reposition, blush, finally pick baby up and balance on lap, try to finish putting face on

* I still crack up every time I hear "T-shirt time" on Jersey shore..I do my best imitation for Carsyn and yell "Tummy Time"..unfortunately, this not amuse her or make tummy time more enjoyable

* There's nothing better than warm oatmeal for breakfast this time of year..has anyone tried McDonald's version?

* My next home will have an enormous woodburning fireplace- Or else my current home having one is on this year's home improvement list

* So many friends and family members tell me they enjoy my blog so much and it really makes my day, but I really think they all would be so much better at it. I will not name names, but I know you people are reading and you need to start one!!!

Do You DVR?

I was diametrically opposed to the dvr for a year or so-crazy I know!! I just figured it sucked the fun out of watching television. Boy was I wrong. I am embarrassed to admit I just recently added the dvr option to the tv in Carsyn's nursery. I never thought I'd put a tv in the nursery but those midnight, 2 am, 5 am feedings changed that. Now I think hmmm..when Carsyn is up at 2:00 I can get caught up on Real Housewives, and then at 5:00 maybe Y & R. It has definitely improved my quality of life. Also, considering Twilight is on a different movie channel every night I have it recorded too! So much easier than having to turn on the DVD player!! So, there it is..the fact I watch way too much tv and have no life. Some things I am getting caught up on:

On a sad note my hubby has officially turned off the family spigot-With the holidays coming up and the fact that having baby girl pretty much drained us I guess its the best decision and I'll support it (its hard when a spender marries a saver ;)

A favorite blogger and new mommy extraordinaire Ashley (I Love You More Than Carrots) tagged me to answer some questions about myself. So here goes...

1. I have a few words that I simply cannot stand. The sound of them, the way they fill my mouth. Just the thought makes me cringe. What are your least favorite words?

Any slang word for the female or male genitalia..(I don't even like that word)..Maybe that's too crude to even bring up..sorry

2. A self-declared major bookworm, I can't get enough of good fiction. What's your all-time most favorite read?

Gone With the Wind..doesn't every girl fantasize a little about being at Tara or Rhett Butler coming to her rescue?

3. What's your favorite meal of the day? Breakfast, lunch or dinner?

All of them..I'm Pregnant :) Probably breakfast..but late at night..nothing beats midnight pancakes or omelets!

4. Do you put your socks on before or after you slip your pants on?

Ha! After

5. If you could cast yourself on any of TV's recent reality shows, which would it be? (Jerseylicious, Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, Chopped, The Next Food Network Star) Think broad spectrum here, ladies!

I know my sil is going to be disappointed I'm not saying Jersey Shore but I'm going with Real Housewives KY version....maybe we could get rid of a few stereotypes, but its probably likely I fit into them ;)

6. What's your favorite attribute?

Oh I'd much rather list my faults..hmmmm.... my eternal optimism

7. We all have a favorite Disney movie. What's yours?

Confession: I just googled Disney movies...I'm not really a Cinderella, Snow White, kind of girl and was pleasantly surprised to find The Santa Claus on the list..oh yeah Tim the Toolman..love him..I'm a sucker for any Christmas movie!! I have to add the hubby's favorite is a Muppet Christmas Carol..the only movie he's ever cried watching...repeatedly

8. And last but not least, you win a goldfish at the local country fair. What do you name him or her?

Well everyone in this house seems to be named after the King so probably keeping the theme we'd name it Lisa Marie..or maybe 'Cilla

Life Without Starbucks

I am a self proclaimed "country girl." A perfect summer day for me is sleeping late, going to the lake, and returning home in time to grill by the pool and do some reading on the front porch before bedtime. Luckily I live in an atmosphere which is very conducive to this. Unfortunately, this means no nice restaurants, movie theatres, shopping malls, or STARBUCKS! While my craving for coffee has largely subsided, my craving for the iced green latte has tripled!! Upon the encouragement of my doctor I do splurge and have one if the opportunity presents itself.



Lately I have found a semi-replacement at the local Bob Evans. The strawberry blueberry smoothie is pretty delightful.






I was pretty upset that Nicole won on DWTS.....am I the only one??
Or maybe it was just the fact that I had just purchased my first maternity bathing suit on line and was in a bad mood. While shopping for some maternity clothes is not that bad I am just not looking forward to rocking the bathing suit. I did find one that was not so bad...

Too Much Reality

So I really enjoy lots of reality TV and have mentioned before Real Housewives is a favorite guilty pleasure. Probably a big mistake watching it tonight as we got to follow Teresa into the delivery room...YIKES! I can totally see me in the delivery room screaming I deserve diamonds for going through this and Shane trying to placate me with ice cream.



I think a Tiffany celebration ring would definitely make it all better :)

In all seriousness I find myself turning the channel when I see a lady in labor because I just don't want to witness it...

DWTS was a little disappointing to me tonight...the freestyles just did not impress me. Even the great Nicole was a let down in my opinion.

Random Things

Don't you just love coming home to something on your doorstep you totally forgot you ordered?!? My goodies from Ashley Brooke Designs arrived today and everything is so cute! I cannot wait to see the design she comes up with after my little one arrives.



Also, sadly I think I might have purchased my last dress before the dreaded maternity clothes are needed..I am hoping this dress will last me another month or two. Thanks goodness for J Crew!! Lots of their dresses and tops are loose fitting and I have been living in their sundresses on sunny days. Hopefully the rain will go away and I'll have a chance to wear this one. Anyone who knows where I can get cute maternity clothes please let me know!!



I have to give props to Miley Cyrus! (I hope I get this story right). Miley funds a program at a local school called Blessings in a Backpack which provides food for students to take home on weekends. Today she showed up at the school to bag the lunches herself! I'm sure the kids were so happy to see her.



I know I'm probably the only one who watches Real Housewives New York, but the last episodes of the ladies on vacation has got me super envious! The place they stayed was so beautiful I can't believe they couldn't find a way to get along.
