A Recap and Plea for Help

We had another relaxing weekend at home.  I actually stayed in yoga pants and while it felt good mercy. I. Am. Ready. For. Spring.  No wait.  Scratch that.  I'm ready for Summer.  Let's skip straight through that rainy, sniffly nose time of the year to bikinis, ice cream cones, humidity (yep I said it) and pool days.

Hank and W were up at the crack of dawn for some reason Saturday morning and Carsyn and I slept late as usual.  I figured the kids would take good naps so I embraced the 60 plus degree weather and went for a run at the lake.  Albeit glorious it also kicked my tail.

I came really close to hitting my 20 mile a week goal….maybe next week.  I'm hoping to get back into hard core running like I was before Christmas because since then I'm looking like a 5'11" blonde version of Kim Kardashian.  Without the boobs.

I whipped up W's favorite pasta for dinner.  I have to give a big shout out to him for keeping the kids out of the kitchen for a whole glorious 45 minutes while I enjoyed some good jams.

I need to back up here and add a little Friday night occurrence.  Y'all know by now after Hank goes to bed around 9:30 or as late as 10:30 on weekends Carsyn has her own little time.  I've always felt fine about that.  Sometimes we play, sometimes I pop in a workout DVD and she watches TV.  Lots of times I give her a snack too because she's such a picky eater.  While I wish she was in bed close to 11:00 I'd quite frankly rather let her play or watch TV contentedly than fight with her for an hour trying to make her go to bed.

Anyway, at midnight she stated she was starving and asked me to fix her 5 hot dogs.  I felt so bad because she never says she's hungry so I fixed her one and she inhaled it.  I actually fixed her two more and she ate them too.  Love her heart.  I sent her to bed at 1:00 am with a belly full of hot dogs.

Fast forward to Saturday night.  Around midnight I started asking Carsyn to go to bed.  She came up with every excuse and I pulled out every trick I had.  I told her no story.  I told her if she sat up late we would not be able to go to church Sunday.  No dice.  I finally got her in bed around 1:00 and she came stumbling down stairs around 1:15 to find me watching TV.  Her little eyes lit up and she said she wanted to watch my show with me.  She ran and got her blanket, crawled up beside me, and wrapped her little arms around me before I could come up with an excuse.

(insert the I'm losing my mind slowly but surely selfie here)

She gladly went to bed around 3:00 am.  As did I.

We all woke up after noon on Sunday.  Hanging head in shame here.  Poor Hank is teething and Carsyn was just worn out.  I hate missing church.  I really should have drug her tail out of bed and made her go anyway, but I'd feel sorry for everyone in the nursery who encountered her wrath.  Sister needs her sleep.

So we had a lazy Sunday.

(is that not a picture of some lazy kids or what?)

And Sunday night it happened again.  The excuses of why to not go night night started coming around 11:30.  I was determined to put her in bed.  I told her if she didn't cry I'd read her favorite story.  Of course she said ok and then started whining the minute I started to leave the room.

After I left I could hear her crying and saying mommy did not love her.  I went back in her room and told her in so many words mommy loved her and needed her to sleep because she was losing her mind. Kidding.  Maybe.

I told her I loved her and wanted her to be happy.  And I needed her to get some rest to feel good.  She said she needed something to make her sleepy.  She asked for a toy to play with and I gave her one.

She played with Minnie Mouse for about an hour.

Honestly, I've tried everything.  I started letting her watch shows on the iPad until she fell asleep and that works until she pushes a wrong button.  She sleeps with a night light.  She is potty trained and can get up, go potty, wash her hands, and get back into bed with no problem.

W thinks its all because she knows I"m still up and wants to be with me.

Rosie thinks she needs to get up earlier.  I'll insert here the days I do wake her before 9:30 it is not pretty.

Me?  I just don't know.  I do think she doesn't like going to sleep with other people being up.  I was always like that I guess.  And honestly, 90% of the time I"m ok with her sitting up until midnight.  Its the 3:00 am bed times that get to me.

Also, I think cabin fever is getting the best of all of us.  When we can get outside to play again I think we'll all be more exhausted and less irritated with each other.

So, I'm asking for your opinions.  And advice if you got any.  Is it a phase?  Am I doing something wrong?

Happy weekend friends! I'm linking up with Darci and others for Five on Friday.  On an actual Friday too!

I never get tired of Ballet Wednesday..and neither does this little ballerina.  I mean who wouldn't jump at a chance of getting to wear a tutu once a week?

Call me old fashioned.  Or maybe I'm a sucker for a love story.  Or maybe its just the coal mining town setting. But I'm captivated by the When Calls the Heart series on the Hallmark Channel.

Yep, I'd be just as shocked as you were if I found out I won the gold medal, Adelina.  Shame on you Russia.

The newest Persnickety release came out today and I'm dying.  I really need to pick up a second job.  Or ask dad for a raise. Ha! That last sentence even made me lol.

I've developed quite an obsession with Olivia Pope and her handbag collection.  Perhaps I should forget spending my money on kid's clothes and save my pennies for this number.

Happy Happy Friday friends..Hope you're enjoying some sunshine!

Snow and Love

We had a pretty big snow storm to hit at the end of last week.  It had been predicted for quite awhile so we planed in advance to be at Rosie and Pop's so we would have hills to sled down and fields to frolic in.

Carsyn loved the snow, but Hank not so much.  He stayed inside the Ranger until Carsyn persuaded him to ride the tube with her.

We had lots of fun but I'm thinking I'm ready for winter to be over!

Rosie took Carsyn for a Valentine's manicure in prep for the big day. She's always so patient. I really need to take her more often but I have visions of Hanky climbing on nail polish displays!

Carsyn has been saying Happy Valentine's Day! since January.  She was really upset Christmas morning when she did not get her Stompeez (darn infomercials) so I think she was expecting them for Valentine's Day.

We got dressed up, ordered pizza and ate a lot of chocolate.

Thanks for the gown Rosie!

I'm so lucky to have the sweetest little valentines!

Weekend Recap

We visited my sister and her family in Lexington on Friday. Carsyn was so excited over the ice because it resembled her of Frozen. I'm sure Lexington locals are not feeling the same.

I brought home sushi for me and W.. I could eat sushi all day every day. Too bad we don't have one close by.

We watched the Olympics all weekend. Figure skating is probably my favorite thing to watch. I'm hoping this girl brings home the gold.

I broke out this JCrew heart sweater for my church OOTD. Thanks for all that complimented on Insta!

We visited Granny and Papaw's on Sunday evening and Hank ate his weight in chocolate.

Weekend Recap

Weekends always fly by and Monday is here before you know it and though I vowed I'd try to always do a weekend recap to have to look back on one day sometimes its hard!  And hello run on sentence..

We recieved this cute little number in the mail Friday and I couldn't resist trying it on Carsyn the minute I opened it.  I ordered this from Petey Pies on Instagram and couldn't be more obsessed!

We celebrated my pop's birthday on Saturday.  Here's a little ootd shot. See also I need to invest in navy shoes.

The weather was 60 degrees and so nice. It was great to be able to get the littles outside.

This picture cracks me up. Carsyn was just so in need of a nap and Hank had just gotten up from a 2 hour slumber. What can I say? My kids need naps!

We went to church on Sunday and I had to rock the dirty hair side pony.

For Super Bowl Sunday I took over the kitchen and made BBQ chicken pizza. I'm getting better.

I was chatting with my big sis this weekend about the last movie I watched.  And came to the conclusion it had been way too long since I had last indulged in a good rom com.  When I turned on Netflix this was listed as a suggestion and I thought it was so good.  Nicholas Sparks does no wrong in my book.

Have y'all seen Safe Haven?

What movies do I need to catch up on?

Five on Friday

As always, I'm scooting in for Five on Friday and linking up with the adorable Darci and others..

You may have noticed I'm on a skin care kick lately.  I've decided 2014 is the year I start really taking care of my skin like I should.  This Kate Somerville Exfolikate seems to be one product I plan on keeping in my rotation.

I am so excited about the Winter Olympics I cannot stand it.  Its pretty much the TV high light of my life.  I tear up a little every time I see this commercial.

We can all agree Downton Abbey is pretty much a snooze fest this season, right?  But I continue to watch it.  And of I'm being honest its because I dream of living in a castle with servants who bring me breakfast on a tray every morning to enjoy in bed.

four and five

I posted this on Insta this week and y'all concurred.  This Captain Rodney's sauce makes the best dip! Thanks to my SIL for pointing it out to me.

Valentine's Day is the one time a year I get gaudy with my manicure.  I think I'll have that accent nail painted over by the end of the weekend.

Happy Weekend Friends!

Its Superbowl Sunday!
