Thoughts and Happenings

Hey hey friends! I keep telling myself I'll get back to writing more regularly, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.

Truth is life is just busy.  Beautifully busy, but busy nonetheless.  The babes are finishing up their first year of preschool and gosh I wish time would slow down.

I have been trying to take a picture of them on their favorite stump to play on at school to have for memories sake.

Speaking of memories sake, the kids got to see the Lilly jeep at the Peppermint Palm recently and Carsyn became obsessed.  I think girlfriend thinks Santa is going to bring her one this year.

My husband walked by my closet one day and said "Jen, you've got too much Lilly...how basic can you be?"  But when you find something you love you stick with it right?  And can we all agree the prints and style keep getting better and better? I mean how fun is this print?

And the cute little jumpsuits they make for girls?

And this dress is my favorite EVER. Its called the Alanna and sold out online but word is Lilly is doing another in June...The countdown is ON.

Have you tried their luxletic line?

I LOVE the skirts.  When I ran long distances I used to only wear skirts #becausethighchaffingaintnobodysfriend but somewhere along the way I sort of traded them in for capris.  I've gotten two of these this season and wear them a lot.  They are short but they have shorts underneath so no worries.

I snapped this pic to remind myself the Whole Foods sunshine smoothie is my favorite.  I thought I'd change into a breakfast eater once I started getting up earlier to get the babes to school but no such luck.  On days they both go I like to go for a run as soon as I get home, but don't like to run on an entirely empty stomach.  I usually drink one of these in the car and its a perfect balance of not too much sitting on my stomach and not running with a growling belly.

I'm slowly getting back into my running groove.  And did my first 3 miles under 30 minutes since the broke foot.  I attribute that to Sturgill's new album which is all sorts of amazing.  If you live local and saw him last night please don't rub it in.

After breaking my foot and getting cleared to work out again in Spring I started doing Barre.  I had only been a few times last fall, but fell in love.  Well, its sort of a love/hate relationship.

I think its the hardest workout I've ever done, but its also the most rewarding.  People always asked me why I liked running and it was just so many things...after that first mile when you hit your stride ...the energy boost you get afterward...the ability to clear your mind and just focus on putting one foot in front of the other.  With barre its the way you can actually feel your body getting stronger.  I really hope to continue doing it and I'll let you know what kind of results I see.

Any of y'all barre addicts?

Back to the babes......We went to see The Jungle Book and they loved it so much.  If you haven't been you need to go..its amazingly awesome.

I love how they are BFFs.

Speaking of BFFs, we've been having play dates with a friend and her 3 kids weekly.  We load up on the golf cart and head to her house and the kids have a blast.

I look forward to play dates as much as the kids I think because we actually get to indulge in a little adult conversation over a glass of wine.

Are they not adorable?

Hope your week is off to a great start!

What's Going On

Hope y'all are having a wonderful summer! We've been busy and not so busy which is the norm, I guess.  Of course we've been having lots and lots of pool days..

The unspoken rule at the pool is you can play with toys in the lost and found bin as long as you replace them.  Carsyn found these sunglasses and immediately declared them hers.  When I told her she had to put them back she said "Mom, you say all the other kids can play with our toys until we ask for them back so why don't I wear these until someone asks for them back?"  She's still wearing them.

Pool days at Camp Rosie are super fun too..

Speaking of Camp Rosie..last time I was there they put me to breaking up beans and let me tell you…momma don't like breaking up beans.  Shane loves beans so in the words of my friend, Amber I #wifedup and fixed him beans and cornbread for supper one night.  Wish I could take credit for the chicken but he's pretty much the grill master.

We celebrated Hank's birthday last weekend by visiting Chuck E Cheese and going to see the new minion movie.

We ate dinner at Coba Cocina and then sunk 20 dollars in the crap toy machine at the movie trying to win the kids minion toys.

Carsyn said I know its Hank's birthday but don't you want a pic of me by myself?

Always.

We went to Whitney's baby shower and I got to spend time with these pretties.

And Carsyn and I got to twin with Aunt Mel and Emersyn from afar..

Do you know they've been at the beach for two weeks?!? Insert all the crying emojis!!

At least I get pics like these to cheer me up..

Playing catchup

Folks, its been a crazy few weeks around here...

The Watts family of four headed to Nashville to watch the cats get annihilated in the SEC tourney the weekend before last.

We met up with Laura, Grayson, & Griffin, watched a lot of basketball, and caught up with Rosie, Bryan, Mel, and Maddox.

We had lots of fun, but were SO busy.  Someday I'm coming to Nashville just to see some of you sweet blogger friends that live in the area!!

(Maddox and Carsyn look like siblings in this picture, right? Love their little hearts, they were so excited to be together!)

(I love this picture of Hank and Griffin..I mean Hank's legs just slay me.  And if you were wondering I think they were born 10 days apart).

The day after we got back I went to the Dr with severe abdominal pain.  Like whoa, I'm dying here, pain.  Turns out I have a nasty disease called divirticulits.  I've been calling it old woman disease and beating myself up for not taking better care of my body.  I've had a heck of a pity party for nearly 2 weeks, but I'm trying to move on.  The good news is I've finished my antibiotics and really look forward to speaking with a Dr. about my future.  Rumors are I should really take it easy on running and frankly, that infuriates me.  I'm going to try to follow Drs orders, but mercy! I was just getting back in my groove!

In the midst of all of this W has really taken over the household.  He actually does most of our grocery shopping, but he has made about 1000 trips to the store this week....and his last visit...wait for it....He got asked for his WIC card.  I died.  That's funny, right?

I've been having a little closet cleanout and selling stuff on IG and much to my surprise this didn't sell.

I find that my size in Lilly Pulitzer varies.  I'm a 6 in some dresses and an 8 in others, but this 6 is just not working.  (Thanks for the expanding ribcage Hank and Carsyn).  I priced it at $100 as I've never worn it, but if any of y'all want it..make me an offer! (How cute is the back??)

I'm always the last aboard the musically hip the train, but do you have this guy's latest masterpiece downloaded yet? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Carsyn had her second haircut the other day and did so well.  She requested a tail pony and was so proud.  She thought she was the cutest thing ever!

Oh, did I mention in the midst of all of this Carsyn contacted strep and I developed an allergic reaction to my medication??

Gimmee good news folks, what's going on in your life?
