Hooray for weekends

I know my weekends seem pretty boring, but I know one day I'll look back and wish for low key weekends!

Starting from top left and working clockwise- Carsyn loves dressing Hank up and I fear his nightmare is just beginning.  But, God love her, she doesn't understand why everyone doesn't want to be a princess.  We were checking out at Hobby Lobby this weekend and out of nowhere she looked at the checkout lady and said "My mommy is a princess."  Awkward.

Have y'all hopped on the Matilda Jane bandwagon yet? My big sis introduced me to their stuff before Carsyn was even born and I never pulled the trigger.  Once Carsyn got big enough to wear their clothes I realized I liked their women's stuff too.  I mean, I may feel ridiculous in big ruffle pants, but they're SO comfy..and I feel a little more dressed up wearing them than my usual black yogas.  Please let them make more colors!

ESPN gameday was in Lexington Saturday and I tore the remote away from Carsyn Saturday morning to tune in.  I'm so proud to be a UK alum and gosh I love my cats.  This season has been a bit of a struggle, but we can't be National Champions every year.

Our washing machine broke last Wednesday and we did without until they could deliver us a new one this weekend.  Do you know the torture of going 3 days without a washing machine with 2 kids? I took a picture to show Carsyn and Hank why they can't go to college someday.  I'm betting those puppies cost more than my dad's first car.  And I got a "cheap" model.  Ridiculous.

I promised Carsyn a mommy/daughter date Saturday and the first thing she said Saturday morning is "Daddy! We're going to Hobby Lobby and to get yogurt parfaits.  Get my dress on!"

Girl was sooooo happy to be out and about.  She went in the yogurt place saying "Oh, its gonna be delicious" and left squealing "That was so fun."  She was so good in her stroller when I shopped- (I used the donkey in the mono mode for the first time in awhile and loved it.  That little side basket is awesome and I swear I grow more in love with that stroller every day. If anyone reading this is currently stroller shopping get the Donkey!!) I vow to have more days like this, I just feel so guilty leaving my little man at home.  He hung out with daddy and had a ball though.

Carsyn asks for books every night when I put her in her crib and I always oblige.  She's such a night owl and I watch her flip the pages on her monitor every night.  She's obsessed with ever what mommy does these days and I guess I've been perusing the Lilly book too often because she always wants it.  She says "Ok, where's mommy's Lilly book?" every night when I tuck her in and Saturday night this is what I found when I went to turn her nightlight off.

Monday mornings always hit me like a ton of bricks, but not Carsyn.  She woke up this morning and picked out her own outfit.  I guess we're hoping Spring comes really soon! I swear this girl likes a new outfit better than her momma.  After she gets dressed she wants to go to the door to take a picture for Rosie.  This stage is so much better than the hate cameras phase!

In case you were wondering what else our little shopping adventure entailed it was mostly for me to pick out new running shoes.  I'm hoping I love these Nike Frees..I'll keep you posted.

Friday Favorites

(we'll pretend its Friday, ok? -technically it was when I started typing, but the toddler has been in rare form lately shouting "I NEED SOMETHING!" when I lay her down...thus delaying important things I have to do like blog & read my US weekly)

Its no secret I love stuff..Here's the stuff I'm loving lately.

Mint skinnies

I have already wore these more than I care to admit..I questioned the fact they were a little more wintergreen than mint, but since I wanted to start wearing them with some winter pieces I figured the color was more suitable for this season than a lighter mint. Now ladies, where do I find the perfect pair in a lighter mint? I'm eyeing the Lilly Worth straight jean..anyone have them?  And if you're interested in these they can be found here.

Speaking of Lilly Pulitzer, have you seen the new prints?  I'm obsessed, OBSESSED, with the chin chin.

I am the worst eater in America y'all.  It seems its 1:00 and I'm starving because I forgot breakfast and I find myself raiding mom's pantry and wolfing 2 little debbie cakes before I even think about it.  And I really don't even like sweets that much.  I'm just busy and go for something easy.  Even W has better eating habits than me lately.  He's pretty much been kicking 2013 in the arse so I'm trying to step up my game too.  Instead of chugging my second cup of coffee on the way to work in the morning I've been gulping this.  Pretty much delicious and so much easier than whipping up something on my own.

Are you girl moms dying over the new Spring lines?  Yeah, me too!  W says I have a problem and he might be right, but I just adore all the little girls clothes out this season.

Hank is 7 months old

Hank, my baby boy, you are a big 7 months old!!

What are you up to? Besides killing me with those baby blues??

Eating! You love to eat and so far the only thing you snub is peas. Ick.  Your current favorite is still mangoes.

Sleeping! You are a pretty good sleeper.  You usually sleep from 9:30 til 9:00 and take a nap from 2:30 til 4:30.

Teething!  These past 4 days you have been a bit of a monster.  You want to be held a lot and haven't been sleeping well.  We'll blame it on three teeth which have completely poked through!

Growing! You don't seem to be the tank we once thought you were.  You weigh 17 lbs 14 oz and are 27" long.  This puts you in the 50ish percentile.  You currently wear 9 month and 12 month clothing.

Sitting up! Yay!! You've finally mastered sitting up for small amounts of time unassisted.

Playing! You have such an interest in toys now.  You love to have things in your hand and love things that make noise.

Mommy loving!  No lie-you're a momma's boy...for now.  Doesn't mean your face doesn't light up when daddy walks in the room though.

Babbling! No words yet.. just lots of ba-ba...maybe a ma-ma or da-da once. You do love to squeal hiiiiiii though.

You are loved by so many Hanky-boo..thanks for making our family complete!!

V Day

If Valentine's Day and all of its hoopla and flowers gags you, you might want to skip over this post. I actually like Valentine's Day..I mean who doesn't LOVE love..I love love.

I don't know about you but this year I felt like I was drowning in a social media funk of one uppers and debbie downers.  Mercy, peeps, you wanna go overboard-go overboard, you wanna boycott V Day? By all means do so.   I've been the girl in high school that wished upon wishes for roses from a special someone and I've been the giddy newlywed surprised with blue boxes and flowers.  Now, as a mom I just wanted my kids to have a special day.  Here's a recap-

Prepare Valentine's Breakfast for the picky toddler.. The pancakes were nibbled and somehow sticky, syrupy goldfish ended upon my walls..and yes, we have goldfish for breakfast..don't mess with the girl's goldfish.

Get self dressed in appropriate Valentine's day heart attire..Resist urge to put hair in ponytail and wear cute shoes so husband thinks you've put forth effort.

Prepare lunch for toddler.. Who sees cookie cutters and assumes we're having cookies.  Assure toddler we'll have cookies later..

Dress toddler and baby and attempt photo for grandparents..

Fail at photo for grandparents..

Out the door for shopping and Valentine's manis..

Back home to tuck kids in for naps and arrange various gifts sent throughout the day..

Open gifts and encourage toddler to "mail herself" to granny and papaw some other time and bake cupcakes instead..

Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle..

Set the dinner table..

Scarf pizza while feeding baby and retrieving balloon toddler keeps "accidentally" letting float to the ceiling...pause for photo op with baby boy..

Have late night chocolate strawberry with toddler wound up from already having too much chocolate & sprinkles..

So, next year its takeout and a movie...and no balloons..and lots of wine..Who's joining me?

(ps- I'm aware my pictures are blurry..do you think there was time to find my Nikon? ;)

In Them Ole...

We're pretty big CCR fans here and one evening after mom and dad watched Carsyn she came home singing Cotton Fields. After bathtime one night I finally got a video of her singing it.

Funfetti!

I don't know what Carsyn loves more eating cookies or making cookies but the girl loves to bake!  In fact I learned a month or so ago all I had to do was tell her we'd make cookies when she woke up from her nap and she'd go straight to sleep.  So, we've been having cookie baking parties fairly often!

When Meredith blogged about a cookie baking linkup I knew I'd join in.  Heck, we might even try a  homemade recipe next time.  This time we opted for the Funfetti "box job."  Sprinkles are Carsyn's passion in life.

Carsyn has 2 favorite parts of baking- stirring & taste testing.  However, frosting and sprinkling are becoming very close runners up :)

I'm in awe of her patience...her precision is of course a little lacking.

I always feel bad doing an activity with one kid and leaving the other out so once everything was tidied up we made room for Hank to sit on the counter and observe..he even got to kiss the cook :)

So, what are you waiting for?  Get in the kitchen and start baking...then head over to The Tichenor family and link up.
