This and That

Is Summer supposed to be crazy busy?? Because I thought it was time to sit back and relax and instead I feel like there's always so many things to do.

We try to visit the outdoor theatre close to my hometown every summer.

This year they did an performance of Shrek and the kids loved it.  Heck, we all loved it.

Aren't they the sweetest?

Speaking of my hometown…We also ventured to EKY one weekend for my cousin, Kyle's wedding.

I might have taken more pics of the kids than the actual bride and groom.

In case you don't know this is my gorgeous sister, my sweet aunt (mother of the groom), fabulous Rosie, my beautiful cousin, and myself.  It was such a fun and beautiful wedding.  I have never seen my cousin. Kyle happier.  We were all thinking of my beloved grandmother and how happy she would have been on this day.

Otherwise we've been hanging out the pool when its not raining (i.e. every single day) and doing a little shopping with Rosie.

On a good note rainy days mean we pretty much have the pool to ourselves and I can catch up on a little reading.

And how cute are my little summer sidekicks?

Here are two of my favorite summer dresses that will be on repeat..

And here are two of my partners in crime at our favorite shopping destination.

Have y'all checked out the newest Lilly stuff?  I LOVE it all and am happy to say I think their sizing is back on point!

Happy Thursday friends!! We are off to the pool! (If it doesn't rain)

A Royal Wedding

I'm very excited about the upcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate! Are you? My SIL at KY girl gave her insight on the type of dress Kate will wear and we're in complete agreement. I think it will definitely be on the conservative side. I also think it will be very simple and completely different than Princess Di's.

Out of all the dresses my SIL posted this is the one I think will mirror what Kate will wear.

I, however, am still gawking at that sapphire stunner.

If I were making my own bling dream list this Tiffany sparkler would be at the top.

What do you think Kate's dress will look like? Or could you care less?

Fashion!

Confession- I'm not the fashionista I once thought I was. I've loved clothes and getting dressed up from the minute I entered this world. I considered myself to be stylish even throughout college. Now don't get me wrong- I definitely attended a few classes in pjs, but for the most part I still got dressed up to go to class... Pathetic maybe, but it made me happy. Once I entered the working world (working with dad from his home) I realized I could wear whatever I wanted-rarely did I see anyone besides family. Several days I could just wear my running clothes so I could head straight to the lake upon leaving. Then I became pregnant and really tried to look cute and stylish, but honestly I had about 5 sundresses that I rotated every week-I just didn't want to waste money on maternity clothes! Skip to post baby and my look has completely gone to the dogs- I wear makeup most days, but my hair is in a messy pony 85% of the time.. To quote an Atlanta housewife the baby came and I'm looking like a hag with my clothes all busted. Most days are the blogger mommy beloved black yoga pants.. Today I mixed it up and wore charcoal. A tank and hoodie and I'm out the door. See...

On days I stay at home it's about the same unless I just remain in my pjs-(don't judge, you know you love pj days). On weekends I'm actually a lot better, but weekdays are a struggle. I find myself making sure Carsyn looks cute because no one cares what I have on anyway. That said, I would just feel better if I were a little more pulled together.

So here's my question- What's your secret for looking good?

Now, that we've established the fact I'm going to try to get my style back on are you as ready for Spring clothes as I am? I received my Lilly mag in the mail today...swoon.

I also have my eye on this JCrew lovely..I'm just not sure its worth the price tag

Since it's Wedding Wednesday I figured I'd share some of my new favorites. Have you checked out BHLDN?? Omg... Amazing!

If anyone would like to include me in their wedding as a bridesmaid I'd be happy to oblige and wear this.

Day 9-Things I Love & Wednesdays are for Weddings!

Do you love weddings? If so you should definitely be checking out Kentucky Girl. She started wedding Wednesday and I joined in because frankly there's only so much blogging about Carsyn I can do ;)

Today's theme is back in black-(I'm thinking perhaps my BIL might have influenced that??) I was trying to remember one bride which had a beautiful wedding gown with a black sash and after searching I discovered it was Pink.

Love, love, love that dress!! Monique Lhuillier..swoon

In keeping with things I love I'd have to say cake is a definite love in my life. What is better than wedding cake? After googling black wedding cakes I found several I actually like, wonder how they tasted?

One of the best wedding cakes I ever tasted was Shane's friend's wedding in Nashville. It was kind of heavy with a hint of lemon in the cake and a cream cheese icing....what was the best cake you've ever eaten?

Wednesdays are for Weddings!

Let's face it the biggest part of the wedding is the bride! When someone goes to a wedding the first question I ask is what did the bride look like. In addition to the dress I like to look at the bride's hair, makeup, jewelry, bouquet, and shoes. For my wedding day I couldn't find any flats I liked. Since Shane and I are the exact same height I didn't want any heel. I bought a pair of ballet slippers and my big sis took leftover swarovski crystals from my gown and glued them on. I was definitely comfy, but if I were getting married today I'd rock some Manolos and not give a damn if I was 6'3!

Onto my favorite brides..shall we start with the obvious:

My bis sis..

She wore a beautiful simple gown by Romona Keveza and flip flops since she got married on the beach! Her bouquet was filled with pink and tons of her favorite flowers-peonies. She opted to keep her hair and makeup simple and the stylist stuck a flower in her hair. I'm pretty sure she kept her jewelry minimal, but I remember her wearing her favorite sapphire bracelet for something blue. She was so beautiful she brought tears to my eyes!

My SIL..

Kristi is a glam girl! Her makeup and hair are always impeccable and her wedding day was no exception. She got married on her MIL & FIL's grounds (like how I glammed that up Kris?). They transformed it into a magical place and Kristi definitley fit the part of a princess. Her gown was blingy and fabulous. I cannot remember her shoes and jewelry, but I'm sure they were blingy as well. Her flowers were traditional red roses if I remember correctly and she was the only one that carried them-loved that!

Onto, my favorite less famous brides ;)

Lady Di...

Oh my goodness, could anyone else pull that off? She evoked everything a princess should be don't you think? And look at those cascading roses! I wonder if Kate will live up to the hype?

Cindy Crawford....

Cindy was the quintessential beach bride...simple dress, bare feet, loose hair. Loved it all. Sorry the marriage didn't work out.

Carrie Underwood...

Y'all probably know by now I think the girl is beautiful, but she gets on my nerves a little. However, loved the Monique Lhuillier gown. Loved the hair and the tiara, but the flowers not so much. I think they were just a little too poufy.

Carolyn Bessette Kennedy...

The most elegant bride in history..Her dress was so simple but yet the fit made it so stunning. Loved the gloves also. Everything about her screams class...simple flowers, minimal jewelry.

Carrie Bradshaw...

Yes I know she's a fictitious character, but that gown- AMAZING!! Those flowers-gorgeous! That hairpiece...atrocious!

Who did I leave out ladies?

Mrs B at Life as a New Mrs-Again has challenged us to 14 days of things we love so even though I'm a day behind I figured I'd start with the number one thing I love:
Miss Carsyn.

Wednesdays are for weddings!

My SIL at Kentucky Girl has been highlighting wedding ideas over at her blog on Wednesdays. Her wedding was completely fabulous and I've always felt she had a knack for planning every single detail. My favorite part of a wedding hands down is the dress!! Believe it or not I'm still completely in love with my dress and hope some day Carsyn will incorporate some part of it in her own wedding. I found my dress while cleaning out closets this summer. I think it looks like it's in pretty decent shape.

If I were shopping for a dress now I'm just not sure which direction I would turn. If my wedding was a simple affair I might would choose a JCrew gown. I love all things JCrew and find their gowns to be beautiful and timeless.

I like these 2 for a more traditional wedding

How perfect would this be for a beach wedding??

and how fun is this for a post nuptials dancing dress??

So what was your wedding gown like? If you were/are shopping for one now what would you choose?

Anniversary Couple

Happy 5 Year Anniversary to my big sis and brother in law!

They were married at the beautiful Wild Dunes Resort 5 years ago today. It POURED the rain up until ceremony time and then the sky opened up and a gigantic rainbow appeared as the backdrop. We ate crab legs, drank wine, and danced our tails off until late that night. Truly one of the best weddings I've been to. And...as you may note my sister looked like a supermodel. Love you both!

Wedding

What a beautiful weekend we had! Saturday Shane and I went to a friend's wedding. Candice was a gorgeous bride and the wedding was amazing. Unfortunately the batteries in my camera died and I just got to snap a couple of pics on the iphone. Congrats to the happy couple!

On another note the Brooks and Dunn show tonight has been surprisingly good. I even got up to show Shane I still remember to how tush push to boot scootin boogie ;)
I forgot I enjoy quite a lot of their songs and I'm happy I had the chance to see them in concert a couple of years ago. I loved Kenny Chesney's and Reba's performances!

The weekend ended on a great note because I finally got my banana split!
