Downhearted, Disenchanted, & Disillusioned

I will be a debby downer for today. I think I'm entitled. I received a phone call from the hubby while shopping with my family Friday afternoon. "Jen, we've been robbed." Shocked, I sat down as he went room by room telling me what was missing. I asked if Elvis was ok and he said yes. When I asked about my jewelry he told me it was all gone. ALL GONE. There were other things missing, but I just couldn't get over my entire jewelry box missing. I cried and cried and cried. Truthfully, I am still crying. Is is because those were items that can never be replaced? Yes. Is is because my hubby worked so many long hours to buy my engagement ring which no longer fit? Yes. But mostly its because I feel violated. A thug was in my home. A thug was in my baby's room. A thug has taken away my trust and my sense of security. I am a firm believer that God does not give us more than we can handle. My baby girl is safe, happy, and healthy and in the large scheme of things that is all that matters. But honestly, my sadness has just turned to bitter anger. I am PISSED! I am upset we live in a world that lets murderers walk free and criminals go unpunished. I am ashamed to live in a society with no morals. A society in which getting high is a number one priority.

Some words of wisdom for you ladies is please get your jewelry insured. It is likely not covered under your homeowners insurance in cases of theft. Also, lock up your Louis Vuitton- apparently dope heads are more educated than they used to be.

Enough whining for now, I'm just around the corner to the light of day :)

Weekend Recap

Some weekends I love having nothing to do- this weekend was not one of them. I always feel guilty when I say I'm bored because that insinuates I have nothing to do, which could not be further from the truth as my to do list is a mile long. So to rephrase I guess I'll change my "boring" weekend to an "uneventful" weekend. Here's a recap:

Trip to Rite Aid to stock up on cheap wine and beauty supplies..(if you're new here I live in the sticks; translation no sephora, no liquor barn)

Trying out loreal mascara per this gal, who I think is makeup genius. Those Reese eggs are for the hubby..not me...no way ;)

Got baby dressed up even though we had no where to go..

Auntie keeps Carsyn in high fashion, don't you think?

And the highlight...

Mom brought me sushi from aqua for dinner!! -Thanks Mom!

How was your weekend? Do you prefer low key or bustling with activities?

A little obsession of mine

For some reason I always get a little giddy when I see a celebrity (or pseudo celebrity as the case may be) wearing an outfit I'm familiar with. I'll usually be on the phone with my mom or sister and blurt "Did you see what Sharon had on today on Y & R? That was totally that Anthropologie caplet!) My mom and sister are quite better at it than I and given the fact that I live in the sticks its excusable that my fashion expertise is often lacking. After watching the Bachelor Monday night I became a little obsessed with the beautiful tweed skirt Michelle was wearing. After much googling I stumbled upon this site. Love this girl!! I will definitely be checking her out more often. How could I have overlooked this JCrew lovely?

I quickly went to their site and found the skirt ON SALE! I added it to my cart and figured I'd purchase it the next morning... Only to be disappointed that it had magically disappeared (I hate when you do this to me JCrew). Luckily, JCrew personal shopper extraordinaire, Cindy, scored it for me and it should arrive shortly. Ah Michelle, your personality was a little sketchy, but your wardrobe was always on point.

Do you have a celebrity or reality tv star who's look you like to mimic?

Confession Time!

* On Monday nights I walk the dog, put the hubby and the baby to bed, pour a glass of red and watch the bachelor. I have the biggest girl crush on Emily..love her!

* I lay out Carsyn's outfit the night before we go anywhere, hair bows, socks, hats & legwarmers if necessary...if only I could do this for myself..

* When I hear the news that someone is pregnant I go into crazy happy mode and gush "its the best thing that will ever happen to you", " babies are so much fun" blah, blah, blah.

* I need a vacation... I mean really bad...if you're going on one soon I'm uber jealous!

* I consume way too many McDs caramel mochas...if you live in the sticks you gotta find a way to survive without a Starbucks.

* I'm currently shopping for Carsyn's Easter dress..have you seen any cute ones? I also am contemplating putting up a (tacky?) Easter tree..but it will likely be up until summer because......

* I still have the Christmas tree up in Carsyn's room. It's cute and serves as a great little night light so judge away.

* Elvis smells like a frito and he's my sleep cohabitator so somethings gotta give.

Confessions anyone??

Rollin Down a Backwoods...

TN byway, one arm on the wheel, holdin my lover, with the other

Dixieland Delight is one of my favorite songs ever!! In fact if you're at a bar in the South and hear a fella in the back incessantly shouting "Dixieland Delight" in a Southern Freebird-like twang its likely that's the hubby!

anyway..today while driving down a KY highway I got behind a pickup truck where the man was driving and the woman was snuggled up next to him with no one over to the far right...Instantly I started singing Dixieland Delight! Now, I'm thinking is that redneck or downright sweet???

Speaking of redneck, how about the mouthwatering meal I cooked for the hubby last night...

Yep, that's good ole fashioned sloppy joes and fried tators...please don't judge- I'm pregnant!! I promise to be more gourmet later ;)

Life Without Starbucks

I am a self proclaimed "country girl." A perfect summer day for me is sleeping late, going to the lake, and returning home in time to grill by the pool and do some reading on the front porch before bedtime. Luckily I live in an atmosphere which is very conducive to this. Unfortunately, this means no nice restaurants, movie theatres, shopping malls, or STARBUCKS! While my craving for coffee has largely subsided, my craving for the iced green latte has tripled!! Upon the encouragement of my doctor I do splurge and have one if the opportunity presents itself.

Lately I have found a semi-replacement at the local Bob Evans. The strawberry blueberry smoothie is pretty delightful.

I was pretty upset that Nicole won on DWTS.....am I the only one??
Or maybe it was just the fact that I had just purchased my first maternity bathing suit on line and was in a bad mood. While shopping for some maternity clothes is not that bad I am just not looking forward to rocking the bathing suit. I did find one that was not so bad...
