Date Night

Saturday night my mom was kind enough to babysit Carsyn so the hubby and I could have a date night. We saw Just Go With It with Jennifer Anniston- I LOVE her. I thought the movie was super cute definitely worth watching. We also had dinner at The Outback and watched the cats play.

-

I snapped this pic while the hubby was engrossed in the game (isn't he cute?).
We have not had many date nights since Carsyn came along so I enjoyed the opportunity to get dressed up.

Today I took advantage of Carsyn's naps and played around with Polyvore. Do you like this site? I figured I would show you my date night outfit since I was having a bad hair day and didn't get a pic. I don't know what's up with my hair lately, but I am needing a change. Any suggestions??

Family Favorite Recipe

When I was in college I was lucky enough to live with my big sister who spoiled me rotten. She always cooked homemade meals for me and my favorite all time meal she cooked was Chicken Crescent Rolls. I'm not where she came up with the recipe but I fix them a lot as they are now my hubby's favorite.

Chicken Crescent Rolls

-

1 lb boneless chicken tenders
2 tbsp chopped celery
2 tbsp chopped onion
4 oz cream cheese
3 tbsp butter
2 containers Pillsbury crescent rolls
Salt and pepper(to taste)

Cook chicken with celery and onion until chicken is done-drain and transfer chicken and veggies to plate
Chop chicken into bite size pieces and add cream cheese and butter while chicken is still warm (I have found that the listed amount of cream cheese and butter are the perfect combination but feel free to alter to suit your taste)
Sprinkle chicken mixture with salt and pepper and set aside
Spread crescent rolls on baking sheet but leave them in squares instead of dividing- I think most containers include 8 crescents so this would be 4 squares per container.
Spoon chicken mixture onto squares and fold corners to meet.
Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

We serve ours with mashed potatoes.

Of course no meal is complete without mommy's little helper..

A Royal Wedding

I'm very excited about the upcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate! Are you? My SIL at KY girl gave her insight on the type of dress Kate will wear and we're in complete agreement. I think it will definitely be on the conservative side. I also think it will be very simple and completely different than Princess Di's.

Out of all the dresses my SIL posted this is the one I think will mirror what Kate will wear.

I, however, am still gawking at that sapphire stunner.

If I were making my own bling dream list this Tiffany sparkler would be at the top.

What do you think Kate's dress will look like? Or could you care less?

My Reality TV Fix

So y'all know I'm kinda addicted to The Bachelor, right? Did you watch last night's episode? I just have to believe that the embalmer freaked Mr Brad out a little more than being Ricky's step daddy! I follow NASCAR ok... I've heard all of the Emily rumors and I'm not buying. She is just so gorgeous and so sweet. If she doesn't find love with Brad I hope she's the next Bachelorette. That being said I think he will end up with Ashley. They seem to have chemistry (and to quote the situation I ain't talking about the class) and something semi-real. I can't wait til next week's episode.

Did you catch the premiere of Real Housewives of Miami?? Big disappointment! I love the Real Housewives series on Bravo. I always look forward to my favorites, OC and Atlanta. I even appreciate all that New York, Beverly Hills, and DC have to offer. The Jersey Girls are spectacular! I cannot seem to find anything to keep me interested in Miami. Am I missing something?

I have to admit I was a Jersey Shore virgin until my SIL introduced me to it. As of now the hubby and I DVR the episodes and watch them over pizza and red wine (or beer) on Friday nights. They make me feel young again. You know, back in the day when all you worried about was being tan and what club you were hitting up that night?? Love the cast, love the show!

American Idol- oh how you've made up for the disappointment I've felt in seasons past! Steven Tyler and JLo do not disappoint. Do you think a 15 yr old will win this season too?

So what reality shows am I missing out on? What do you think about The Bachelor, RHOM, Jersey Shore, & American Idol?

Worth the Wait

Posted by Picasa

I might have introduced the hubby to the idea of a push present. My family might have hinted sapphires are Carsyn's birthstone.

Thanks hubby for the push/happy 10 years present!

Carsyn is 5 months old!

You are 5 months old today baby girl!!

You continue to teach your momma what love and patience are all about. Every morning you start jabbering and wake your momma up. After she drags herself out of bed and makes her way to your crib you spit your paci out and give her a smile that melts her heart. You honestly wake up with a smile every morning (you get that from your daddy). You smile and laugh all of the time and are such a joy to be around. One things for certain though, when you get mad you get MAD-Just ask auntie what happens when something doesn't go your way. Speaking of auntie, you love your family and are just as content snuggled up with Rosie and Granny as you are mommy and daddy.

You love to talk-right now all you want to say is dah dah dah. Momma stands over you going ma ma ma but its just not happening. When we are in the car listening to the radio you often join in and try your best to sing-you love the sound of your own voice.

You also love to roll. Some days all you want to do is roll from one end of the rug to the other. You are perfectly content on your back and when momma puts you in the bumbo often you'll get poker stiff and try to find a way out of it. You also still love your swing and watching tv. Handy Manny has moved in as your favorite I think, with Mickey falling behind. I'm pretty sure you miss football season also as basketball just cannot seem to hold your interest.

You love to have your diaper changed and think its just the funniest thing in the world. When momma lays you on the changing table your legs go in the air immediately as if you're saying "get this wet thing off of me!"

You are growing like a little weed and momma has been working on packing up your too small 3 month outfits. Sigh. You are wearing 3-6 month clothing now and are getting so long.

You finally are enjoying your rice cereal more and open your mouth and smack your lips when its time to eat. Oatmeal is definitely your favorite.

You are a wonderful little sleeper (thank goodness). You sleep 12 hours during the night and take about 2 naps a day. I know this will likely come to an end soon, but momma really appreciates it!

Now that the weather is getting warmer we have been going for walks in your stroller and you love it. You look around at the squirrels and birds in wonder.

Out of all things you love the paci is your greatest. Lord bless the paci :)

Carsyn, you are so perfect and momma and daddy love you so much. Thanks for being our little angel.

Cats Cats Cats!!

When I was perusing Kelly's Korner SUYL entries on Alma Maters I was disappointed not to see any UK alums so I decided to show some love.

This is not a post on long lasting friendships or exceptional education experiences but instead on a UK tradition that endures whether you attended the college or not-The LOVE for UK athletics. This is a bond that leaps states and quite possibly continents. Everyone in our family loves UK football and basketball and you also might notice that Carsyn has a UK outfit for every day of the week. The hubby also attended UK but we never went there at the same time. While I attended UK I lived with my sister and cousin and for one semester my other cousin. It was a great time in my life and we always get together during UK football season to get our tailgate on....

Fashion!

Confession- I'm not the fashionista I once thought I was. I've loved clothes and getting dressed up from the minute I entered this world. I considered myself to be stylish even throughout college. Now don't get me wrong- I definitely attended a few classes in pjs, but for the most part I still got dressed up to go to class... Pathetic maybe, but it made me happy. Once I entered the working world (working with dad from his home) I realized I could wear whatever I wanted-rarely did I see anyone besides family. Several days I could just wear my running clothes so I could head straight to the lake upon leaving. Then I became pregnant and really tried to look cute and stylish, but honestly I had about 5 sundresses that I rotated every week-I just didn't want to waste money on maternity clothes! Skip to post baby and my look has completely gone to the dogs- I wear makeup most days, but my hair is in a messy pony 85% of the time.. To quote an Atlanta housewife the baby came and I'm looking like a hag with my clothes all busted. Most days are the blogger mommy beloved black yoga pants.. Today I mixed it up and wore charcoal. A tank and hoodie and I'm out the door. See...

On days I stay at home it's about the same unless I just remain in my pjs-(don't judge, you know you love pj days). On weekends I'm actually a lot better, but weekdays are a struggle. I find myself making sure Carsyn looks cute because no one cares what I have on anyway. That said, I would just feel better if I were a little more pulled together.

So here's my question- What's your secret for looking good?

Now, that we've established the fact I'm going to try to get my style back on are you as ready for Spring clothes as I am? I received my Lilly mag in the mail today...swoon.

I also have my eye on this JCrew lovely..I'm just not sure its worth the price tag

Since it's Wedding Wednesday I figured I'd share some of my new favorites. Have you checked out BHLDN?? Omg... Amazing!

If anyone would like to include me in their wedding as a bridesmaid I'd be happy to oblige and wear this.

Happy Valentine's Day!

So much to blog about so little time...

First, we had a nice night out Saturday night thanks to these guys...

and of course our babysitters...

Shane's co workers arranged for us to go to a Valentine's Dinner at the local college and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a wine tasting featuring wines from my favorite Lexington winery Jean Farris. I love wine and highly recommend you try any from Jean Farris if the opportunity presents itself. I drank way too much Dolce red and did the electric slide. We had a really nice time catching up with friends and I am so thankful to have enthusiastic, willing babysitters.

(yuck-what is up with my flat hair?)

But, the highlight of my Valentine's Day was spending the day with this gal...

So how, you might ask, does a married 30 something new mom spend her Valentine's night???

and lastly, y'all know my obsession with the boss, right?? For your viewing pleasure....

Day 12 & Beauty

My beauty favorites

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's beauty secrets over at Kellys Korner. In spite of what my mom might think (she might have hinted I smelled like spoiled milk after I might have mentioned Carsyn spitting up on me last week) I like to smell good! My favorite perfumes are by Chanel-Coco Mademoiselle is my favorite and No 5 is a close second. After snapping a pic I realized I'm almost out of my Mademoiselle and I might give Chance a try next time. I also really love anything by Philosophy and use pure grace every day.

As far as makeup I'm always trying something new, but my all time favorites are nothing you probably have not heard of before.
* Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer-the best out there in my opinion
* Nars blush in orgasm-I think every girl in America should have this regardless of skin tone
* Lancome mascara-I cannot decide which is the best hypnose or definicils

I am trying out the Lancome éclat Miracle. The instructions read to mix with your foundation for a luminous glow. I'm dry so I'm hoping this really helps my skin's appearance.

Last, but not least is La Mer moisturizer. Sometimes in the summer I can use something else but my skin is so dry in the winter this is the only stuff that really works.

So what's your beauty secrets?

Days 10 & 11 Things I Love

I love to run. I love to sweat believe it or not and when I'm gross and completely dripping from finishing mile 6 I feel on top of the world. Of course I have to admit part of the reason I love to run is so that I can eat more of day 9's object of love and well frankly day 11 also (but we'll get to that later). I really started running about 10 years ago. I could barely go 1/2 mile but the adrenaline rush hooked me. I've ran 5ks and 10ks but have always wanted to accomplish a mini marathon. So far I get up to running about 9 miles and my body just can't go any further. Last year right before I found out I was pregnant I was at this point and now I think I'll never reach it again. I'm not putting any pressure on myself, but it's still on my to do list. Thankfully Carsyn has discovered Baby Mozart on DVD and I can prop her in front of the tv and she's completely content for about a half hour. See.....

As far as food goes this girl loves her some pizza. Plain cheese from Papa Johns to be exact. Have eaten a whole pie in one sitting.

What food do you love?

Day 9-Things I Love & Wednesdays are for Weddings!

Do you love weddings? If so you should definitely be checking out Kentucky Girl. She started wedding Wednesday and I joined in because frankly there's only so much blogging about Carsyn I can do ;)

Today's theme is back in black-(I'm thinking perhaps my BIL might have influenced that??) I was trying to remember one bride which had a beautiful wedding gown with a black sash and after searching I discovered it was Pink.

Love, love, love that dress!! Monique Lhuillier..swoon

In keeping with things I love I'd have to say cake is a definite love in my life. What is better than wedding cake? After googling black wedding cakes I found several I actually like, wonder how they tasted?

One of the best wedding cakes I ever tasted was Shane's friend's wedding in Nashville. It was kind of heavy with a hint of lemon in the cake and a cream cheese icing....what was the best cake you've ever eaten?

Day 8- Things I Love

I love UK basketball. While I do not love this years team as much as last years I am a die hard fan-I bleed blue!

Remember this pic of baby girl decked out in her blue before she was a week old?

I had a pretty enjoyable college experience at UK and I think it has such a lovely campus. Though it does not rival the beauty of some campuses I think Memorial Hall is just one of the most picturesque buildings (I do not hold it against you that I almost failed Micro Econ there-it was a MWF 8:00am class-clearly Thursday nights are to blame).

Now if you'll excuse me while we whip up on some TN orange ;)
(please please TN let us win one)

Day 7-Things I love!

hmmm... how far behind am I?

First I had this gal..

Then this stuff..

Third was this..

Then fourth and fifth..

So on day 7 I'll add 2 in 1- Vacation & more specifically vacation to my favorite city in the world-Charleston, SC!!

I love vacation and look forward to it every year and every year we end up in the same place-Charleston, SC. We usually stay at IOP at Wild Dunes. I know where to eat, where to shop, where the beach isn't too crowded, where to golf. This year for our family vacation we are thinking of going somewhere else. So far we are thinking Destin. That scares me because of the long drive with baby girl, but I hear the water is beautiful. Any ideas or suggestions?
